Acharya Jayantsen Suriswarji admitted to Hospital

Jain priest Acharya Jayantsen Suriswarji was admitted in Geetanjali Hospital due to certain breathing problem reported by him. The prominent saint was later discharged after giving required medicine by expert doctors.

HoDs of Medicine, Chest and T.B. department, including cardiologists of the hospital attended the saint and conducted thorough check up. According to the official press release by hospital authority, C.T. scan showed swelling of thyroid glands.

According to members of Shree Rajendra Shanti Vihar Kaya, Acharya is on constant travel from 4th May and recently complained of extensive cough, while he is already suffering from blood pressure and diabetes.

Coordinator of Yoga Seva Samiti and President of Jain Social Group ‘Umang’, Dr. Sunderlal Dak has been appointed as the International Chairman of Yoga and Meditation Committee in Jain Social Group International Federation (JSGIF).

Umang Secretary Piyush Bhansali informed that considering the contribution of Dr. Dak in promotion of Yoga and Meditation, President of Federation Rakesh Kumar Jain and other members gave the responsibility of Yoga and Meditation committee to Dr. Dak for the year 2013-14.

The federation has 378 branches all over the world.

Devotees came out with a grand procession to celebrate the 2612th birth anniversary of Lord Mahaveera, the supreme religious authority in Jainism. Devotees including men, women and children marched in the colorful convoy laden with several tableaus, musical bands and vehicles.

Both groups of Shewtambar and Digambar sects jointly participated in the celebration. Several smaller groups gathered at Town Hall and merged into a large procession. [Read more...]

To celebrate the auspicious occasion of Mahaveer Jayanti, the preparations for 7 days of grand celebration are on the roll.

Rajkumar Fattawat of Mahaveer Jain Council said that the events during the celebration include fruit distribution in the hospital, food distribution to differently-abled students, musical Navkar Mantra recitation, meeting on the ideas and thoughts of Lord Mahaveera etc.

The programs will start a week ahead of the Mahaveer Jayanti which is on 23rd April. On the final day, a huge procession containing various tableau, banners and boards will be taken out sending a message of peace and prosperity.

Newly elected working committee of Bapu Bazaar Jain Business association took oath in a ceremony organised at Terapanth Bhawan today. The election of the committee held last month in which 250 registered members of this group voted for the post of President, General Secretary, Treasurer, Senior Vice President and other positions.

25 Couples of the Jain community were tied into wedlock today in a glittering mass wedding that was organized at the BN College ground. Hundreds of people gathered to witness the 14th Samuhik Vivah organized by Shree Mahaveer Yuva Manch Sansthan and Samuhik Vivah Samaroh Samiti.
