Former Employee Mastermind attack; 5 arrested for Firing at Businessman

Police has arrested five people for firing and trying to rob a Mullatalai based Businessman on the evening of 16th May. Out of five, one of the accused had worked at the victim’s workshop for few months.

The businessman, Lalit Kothari, was attacked by a group of men who also opened fire at him but Kothari escaped unhurt.

Four of the accused, Shakeel alias Bhayyu (24), Arif (20), Hussain (19) and Anvar (20) are residents of Sajjan Nagar slum colony while the fifth accused, Saddam (21), is a resident of Jatwadi.

Shakeel was employed with Kothari but left this job, as a welder, after working for two months. During interrogation, Shakeel alleged that Kothari used to spread false rumors about him in market because of which he was not getting job anywhere. [Read more...]

[UPDATE] Firing at Businessman, Police Detains Many Suspects

victimCity police seems to be still far to catch the main accused of firing at Lalit Kothari, owner of M/s Empire Engineering Works at Mulla Talai Chouraha, though several numbers of suspects were detained in a police raid today.

Kothari luckily escaped the speedy attack on him yesterday evening which is believed to be an assault with the intentions of robbery.

Businessman survives attempt to Robbery

Four people on two motorcycles opened fire at Lalit Kothari, a local businessman, while he was on his way home at the 80 Feet Road, MullaTalai. The incident occurred today evening.

Kothari, who runs a business at MullaTalai was driving home in his car when the unidentified assailants attacked him.  Kothari said that the attack was presumably to rob him of his briefcase, which he was carrying with him.  The assailants thought that there was cash in the briefcase, but as per Kothari, all cash was in his pocket.

Female Foetus found in Garbage Container

In a shocking incident that came to light early morning today, a female foetus was found in a municipality garbage container at Kharol Colony.

The foetus, said to be aged between 6 to 7 months was found wrapped in a polythene bag. Many locals of the area gathered around the place and informed the police. Later, the foetus was transferred to the mortuary for an autopsy.

The Ambamata police have registered a case under Section 318 IPC against unknown persons and have started their investigations.

Religious Groups to Protest against Violence in Mulla Talai

More than 20 people were detained by Ambamata Police in connection with the 13th April violence in the city’s Mulla Talai area, after an anti religious remark was posted on social networking site facebook. More than half a dozen people were reportedly injured in the clash between two communities.

Heavy police force is deployed in the area and no information of further violence is reported yet.

According to sources, to express remonstration against the violence, tomorrow on Monday the 15th April, religious groups will hand over a memorandum to District Administration, demanding action against the accused and compensation to the victims. [Read more...]

4:45 PM: Three regiments of Mewar Bhil Corps are conducting a house-to-house search for arresting the accused in the ‘Manish assault’ case.

5:38 PM: Bherulal and Ramdas from Gandhinagar and Nikhil and Bansilal residents of OTC scheme received injuries.

5:39 PM: Another injured Shaista and Shaheena lodged complain against unknown attackers.

5:47 PM: We apologize for misstating that police is closing shops, police didn’t asked anyone to close the shops.

A group of men asked shopkeepers to shut down the shops, shops and market are running normal and peaceful.

6:03 PM: Situation is completely under control and calm.

Incidence of stone pelting has been reported from Mulla Talai area after a restaurant owner was allegedly thrashed by a group of people. A large police force has been deployed in the area to control the tense situation.

Crisis started when Vinayak Restaurant’s owner Manish alias Pintu was allegedly beaten by a group of people. Manish lodged police complaint stating that he was beaten up by nearly 50 people who also ransacked his shop and manhandled his mother.

Community people strongly condemned the attack and gathered outside Ambamata Police Station demanding the arrest of all accused within one hour. [Read more...]

Shopkeeper Shoots Air Gun at another Shopkeeper

No one was injured in the alleged gun shots fired today evening by a shopkeeper at another shopkeeper at Rada ji Chouraha, Ambamata.

Police has detained Yash Jain, who owns a general store, under STSC act for verbally abusing the victim Anil Gahlot, who runs his bicycle repair shop, just next to the general store. Arrest was made after the victim lodged a complaint with the police.

According to the Police report, Yash alalegedly fired 2 shots from his gun at Anil. Yash claims that the gun used was an air gun. Anil has also accused Yash of verbally abusing him.

A case under SC/ST Act has been registered at Ambamata police. Police is also investigating about the type of gun.

“The type of gun used will be examined by the expert. If it is indeed found to be an air gun then no case under arms act will be registered”, said police.

Neighbors Clash over Petty Issue

A heated argument between two neighbors turned into a fight and one neighbor accused another for allegedly beating him.  A police case was lodged by the victim.

The fight started over a small issue, which later turned into a dreadful clash. The incident took place at Mulla Talai’s Farookh-e-Azam colony where Chaman Siraj alleged his neighbor Akhtar of beating him.

Siraj’s house was undergoing some construction work and due to this construction material was lying outside his house.  Akhtar, the neighbor living next door objected over the scattered construction material and both started arguing. [Read more...]

Woman hangs herself to Death

A 35-year-old married woman committed suicide by hanging herself inside her room today. The deceased was said to be suffering from mental stress and was on medicine from last 6 to 7 years.

On the day of incident, the deceased who is a resident of Chandpol and her two children were taken to her parents house nearby. Her husband went to market and their children left for school, leaving her wife alone in the house.

When her husband returned home, he got stunned at seeing his wife hanging from the ceiling. He screamed out loud before fainting out of shock.

Neighbors rushed the woman to hospital, but she was declared dead on admission. Victim’s husband is an artist by profession and makes paintings to earn livelihood.

One Injured, 3 Arrested over Liquor Brawl

Three salesmen working at a wine shop were arrested last night for injuring a person by smashing a liquor bottle on his head.  The incident took place at a wine shop located at Mulla Talai Circle.

According to police, Shivlal, resident of Brahmpol area went to buy liquor with few of his friends.  He subsequently got into an argument with the salesman identified as Deepak over a payment. Shivlal alleged that Deepak smashed a bottle on his head; he was rushed to hospital by his friends.

Police has arrested Deepak alongwith two other salesmen of the shop and have started investigations.
