A workshop outlining the working of state schemes towards abolition of child labor in Southern Rajasthan was organized in Hotel Anand Bhawan under the joint association of Vagdhara Sansthan and Plan India.
In the workshop, officials of various government bodies participated along with various Non-Government organizations and discussed various aspects of child labor and suggested measures to implement a ban on it. The workshop was presided over by Patajali Bhu, Joint Labor Commissioner.
Patajali Bhu said that this problem can be solved only when every individual and official of the government bodies understand their responsibilities and work accordingly.
Chief Guest for the occasion, R.S. Dhakad, member of Child Welfare Committee, through an experimental presentation explained that this issue cannot be solved by one or two persons but only if all work together can it be completely eliminated.
Chief Policy Official of the Collectorate said that emphasis should be laid on generating awareness and a policy should be made, which provides for a bright and safe future for children rescued from child labor.
Officials of various government organizations said that we have been emphasizing only on children working in the BT cotton fields, while at the same time neglecting the other children, something which needs to be looked into.
