Thunder and Rain in Udaipur

rain-1Udaipur witnessed unseasonal rainfall amid heavy thunder storm today evening. Most parts of the city observed moderate to heavy rainfall and drizzling, the fall started from late afternoon and continued till night.

The sudden change of weather escalated humidity levels and caused traffic and electricity problems in the city. A tree was reportedly fallen down due to storm at Sukhadia Circle. [Read more...]

Rising temperatures Signal the onset of Summers

sunnyCity’s whether became a bit hotter during the first week of March indicating an early onset of summers. Maximum recorded temperature during the days shot to 34 degrees while minimum temperature remained close to 23 degrees during the past week.

Today, sun rays felt more intense than the other days giving a feel of summers breaking the prolonged winter season that had number of ups and downs in temperature recorded.

According to metrological department, Udaipur, maximum temperature recorded on 4th March was 33 degrees and minimum 21 degrees. They also forecasted increase in the day time mercury levels to 36 degrees in the ongoing week.

Northwestern breeze dips the Mercury

Rain in the past 48 hours followed by a windy day pushed temperatures lower today. With a partial cloudy sky and 41% humidity, localities were to take out their winter clothes. Lowest recorded temperature in past 24 hours was 13 degrees while the maximum was 22 degrees.

Drop in the temperature is the result of furious winds from northwest part of the city speeding at around 24 km per hour. “City received 1.5 MM rain in past 48 hours”, informed an official of the Weather Department Dabok.

According to the metrological predictions, an upward trend in temperature can be seen as mild breeze will continue to flow throughout the week.

Thunder, Lightning and Rain in Udaipur

On the eve of Basant Panchami today, Udaipur witnessed mild rain showers with thunder and lightning. For past few days, Udaipurites have felt relief from the chilling cold but the sudden change in whether will perhaps lower the temperatures once again.

Lightning and thunder started at around 8pm at several areas of the city. And soon, many places including Neemuch Kheda, University Road, Debari reported power cuts.

With continuous light to medium showers, a few areas reported heavy rain for at least 15-20 minutes.

Temperature Rise Show Up In City

After bearing extreme weather conditions over the past week, once again a rise in temperature is recorded, 6 degrees was measured today morning at Dabok, whereas in town it was around 7, an immediate rise of mercury has left behind a pleasant and favourable condition around town.

This winter, though have broken all the records indicating lowest of the degrees in the past two weeks, but a bearable climate with 7 degrees in city relived dwellers from extremity of the season. Being one of the coldest days, 22nd January was measured at a record low of 3.8 degrees at Dabok and 4.8 degrees in rest of the town.

According to the officials of Weather Department, a fall in degrees is expected towards the end of the week.

Udaipur Freezes over Icy Wind

wind-chillUdaipur is once again hit by the chilling weather condition with freezing cold breeze today. The climatic turnaround followed last night with rainfall and hailstones reported in major part of Northern Rajasthan including Jodhpur, Jaipur and Churu; this affected rest of the state with dropping of temperature.

According to meteorological source, Udaipur witnessed 7 degree Celsius in the morning hours, forcing people to stay at home till late break of day. The sun rays could not ease the pinch of chilling airstream and hands could not come out from pockets of woolen jackets, the day remained frosty and troubled.

If sources to be believed, falling temperature will remain unaffected in the coming days.

Mercury Slips, School Timings Changed in Udaipur

Once again winter moves on its harsh side as day time temperature in city is on a steep fall, while in night it further bends down to 9 degrees, administration calls for views before announcing holidays in Private and Government education institutions.

With the severity of chilling winter, school managements are looking forward to change timings for both toddlers and senior students; Mewar Sahodaye Complex an association comprising all Private Schools following CBSE pattern forwarded a fax to city administration on behalf of schools.

According to Dr. Lokesh Jain, Coordinator of Mewar Sahodaye Complex informed that announcing holidays would be affecting timely completion of syllabus, therefore have collectively decided to change the school timings to start from 9:30 am to end at 3 pm for students of 1st to 8th standard. Mercury Slips in Udaipur

A gradual change in climate is observed in past 48 hours, where by mercury dips to minimum 9 degrees; maximum temperature recorded on 1st December counted 22 degrees in and around city areas, although a halt in breeze flow proved a soft part of weather.

From past 2 days, city has felt a change in climate, as an early snowfall was recorded in Northern parts of country. Season’s first snowfall was though welcomed in Icy areas, but a rush of weather change is the resultant in cities of lower altitudes.

Due to drop in temperature, demand for bulky warm cloths was seen rising; individuals got loaded with winter gears. A drop of around 3-4 degrees is forecasted in coming weeks, where 6-7 degrees can be recorded on thermometer.
