The ongoing campaign of University Student Elections turned violent today when student activists of Chatra Sangarsh Samiti (CSS) and Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) started fighting over campaigning matters.
Several students were injured in the clash and the subsequent police lathi-charge. Both parties have lodged FIR against each other at Bhopalpura Police Station.
According to sources, the fight started when ABVP activists were allegedly trying to take students for a film show as a part of election campaign and CSS activists objected it.
Both groups started attacking each other in which a few students got injured. To control the situation, police resorted to Lathi charge.
According to Pankaj Borana of the ABVP, CSS activists started pelting stones on the bus carrying students for the outing, while CSS leader Suryaprakash Suhalka said that ABVP members were forcing their supporters for watching a movie show for which the CSS objected.
A heavy police force has been deployed in MSLU campus.
Surya Prakash Suhalka and Dilip Joshi alleged that ABVP with the support of BJYM called anti-social elements to attack CSS activists.
Dy SP Dayanand Saran took the situation under control and disperse the crowd.
Since NSUI candidate stepped out of the election, rivals CSS and ABVP are trying to win the election and organizing campaigns to garner maximum support.
