UIT, UMC to work for Lake Conservation

The Udaipur Municipal Council and Urban Development Trust are jointly going to present the progress report on the NLCP project in the state meeting of National Lake Conservation Project (NLCP), to be held in Jaipur on 3rd September.

Udaipur Municipal Council will be putting various points to make pollution free lakes in Udaipur to P. K. Goyal, Secretary, Local Self Governance Department.

Along with the progress of NLCP, Udaipur Municipal Council will also discuss on various proposals for maintaining cleanliness in the lakes of Udaipur, major issues include Dhobi Ghat at pichola, Floating Fountain in Fatehsagar, De-weeding Machine and awareness campaign among common masses.

According to commissioner of UMC, Satyanarayan Acharya, Dhobi Ghat is located near Manikya Lal Verma Park at pichola, however cannot be used by any one as the ghat is build on land owned by forest department, UMC will be putting up a proposal to transfer that land to the Council.

“Lake is getting polluted, as people wash cloths in it. The idea is to take the land from forest department and open the place for washing clothes, so as to put a check on pollution of the lakes”, said Satyanarayan Acharaya.

He also added that to attain the required cleanliness UMC have to buy a de-weeding machine and cleaning machines, budget for the same will also be proposed in the meeting. The Machines might cost around Rs. 4 crores.
