Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) held a meeting on Wednesday 6th June to take forward the discussions on the Elevated road project, proposed to be constructed between Court Circle and Udiyapol.
Various departments were allotted responsibilities for the preliminary tasks falling under their purview. The meeting was presided over by Roop Kumar Khurana, Chairman, UIT.
Officials from various departments including Municipal Council, Water Works, PWD, PHED and BSNL were present in the meeting. The departments have been given time till 20th June for charting out and submitting their action plan. The departments were also provided with a design map for the elevated road.
According to Purshottam Paliwal, Executive Engineer, AVVNL, shifting of electric lines of 33 KV coming under the construction zone is considered to be the most difficult task since the power supply of the area will be affected and it is not feasible to shut power even for a day. In such a scenario, alternative measures need to be analyzed. Construction of underground ducting can prove to be a viable option, suggested Purshottam Paliwal.
Dr. R.P Sharma, Secretary, UIT, further informed that a meeting has been schedule on 25th June to discuss the action plans that will be submitted by the different departments. Representatives from with engineering consultant firm, Mars Planning and Engineering Pvt. Ltd will also be present during the meeting. It may be noted that Mars Planning and Engineering Pvt. Ltd,an Ahmedabad based company, has been appointed as the consultant for construction of this flyover.
