National Craft Mela at Town Hall from tomorrow

Artisans from various states will present an assortment of artworks and crafts at National Craft Fair, Gandhi Shilp Bazaar 2013, in Udaipur from 22nd February to 3rd March. The fair is being organized by Rural Non-Farm Development Agency (RUDA) and Development Commission (Handicrafts), Government of India.

Fair will be inaugurated tomorrow by Chairmen MCU, Rajni Dangi.

The Bazaar will open at 1 pm everyday during the aforementioned period. People will get to see and purchase beautiful handicrafts made by craftsmen from various corners of the nation. A total of 150 stalls will be seen at the fair.

In the end of the whole fair on 3rd March, best craftsmen and best stall will be awarded.

Theft at Raymond’s Showroom, goods worth Lacs of Rupees stolen

raymond-shop2While, the city is bathing in the joy of the ongoing Navratri Festival, the continuous incidents of thefts have added bitterness to the celebrations.  After consecutive burglaries reported in two residences, thieves have now targeted a shop at Town Hall road.

Raymond’s showroom at Town Hall road was ransacked by suspected thieves last night, who stole clothes worth more than Rs. 1.50 Lacs and Rs.63,000 in cash.

Dhaval Thakkar, Manager of the store informed the Surajpol Police that they closed the showroom at around 10.15 pm last night.

Today, when he returned to the showroom he was shocked to see the shop merchandise in tatters; all clothes, perfumes, accessories, etc. were lying on the floor; the drawer on the reception counter was lying open and Rs. 63007 were missing from it. [Read more...]

Businessmen: Blockade on Shakti Nagar Link Road hampers Business

District Collector, Hemant Ghera was presented a memorandum today by the businessmen of Link Road Vyapar Mandal, Udaipur for re-facilitating the link road between Bapu Bazar and Shakti Nagar.

The road which has been blocked by Udaipur Municipal Council from past few months is requested to be re-opened by the fellow businessmen of Mandal.

UMC objects to Municipality entrance being used as thoroughfare – Gates Closed

The second gate of Town Hall, Nagar Parishad which leads to Liberty Electronics Showroom has been closed today for an unknown period of time by the orders of Rajni Dangi, UMC Chairman.

When UT asked Dangi, she said, “The gates have been closed because two and four wheelers are taking it as a common pathway now which leads to Shakti Nagar, and this is creating a traffic situation on the pathway”. [Read more...]

The Congress Party in Udaipur paid tribute to Late Rajiv Gandhi today for his 21st death anniversary today at the Shaheed Smarak at Town Hall. 99kg Plastic Bags Seized from Shopkeepers

Subsequent to a raid conducted by the Pollution Control Board of Udaipur with the joint support of the SDM, Nagar Parishad and the Tehsildar, 99 kilos of Plastic Bags was seized today from several shops in Udaipur.

Under the Inspection program of the Pollution Control Board, 11 different shops of the city were raided and a huge amount of Plastic Bags were taken into custody by the Nagar Parishad Officials and Tehsildar. [Read more...]

Shyam Kirtan Mahotsav on 19 May

khatushyamjiA dutifully prompted spiritual program by the devotees of Lord Khatushyam ji would be held on 19th May at the Town Hall ground.

The event, titled 6th Shyam Kirtan Mahotsav is being organized by Shyam Mitra Mandal Trust.

Various well-known Bhajan singers from many cities would be participating in this annually conducted event. Ashok Kabra, of the trust said that a huge stage will be set in reverence to Lord Khatushyam Ji also known as Shyam Baba.

Ek Shaam Sai Ke Naam, on May 12

A group of devotees of the Holy Saint, Sai Baba of Shirdi, the Om Shri Sai Bhakt Mandal are organizing the 3rd Annual “Ek Shaam Sai Ke Naam – Bhajan Sandhya”; a spiritual evening at Town Hall, Udaipur on 12th May, 2012.

According to Harish Navlakha, President of the organizing committee, “All preparations have been made to mark the day. The venue will be highly decorated with lighting, flowers and spread with the fragrance of sacred bliss; there would also be colorful fireworks on the night of 12th May.”
