Theft at New India Insurance Company

In a robbery that took place ironically at an Insurance company premises today, thieves stole more than Rs 1 lac cash from the firm’s office at Ashwani Bazaar.

According to police, a sub-staff member of the New India Insurance Company’s Ashwani Bazaar Branch went to the office today morning at around 9.30 am where he found that two of the locks of the main gate were broken. When he reached the first floor, he discovered that there was a huge gap between the iron strings of the channel gate.

[Pics] UT Celebrates Birthday with Special Children

It was another busy day for UdaipurTimes.com team; while collecting our daily news and content we had an additional task to execute as UT marks its 2nd Birthday today.  Instead of hosting a party, we thought of celebrating it with children who face special challenges in their daily lives.

Thus, we tried to extend our joy and happiness with children at the Theosophical Society and HIV positive children of UNPLH (Udaipur Network of People Living with HIV).

The UT team enthusiastically arranged breakfast and sweets for children and themselves and went to the Theosophical Society to serve breakfast to 18 physically disabled children.

Later, a session of chit chat and games were followed by a cake cutting ceremony with the entire UT team of reporters, editors, techies and marketing staff and overjoyed children. [Read more...]

Lieutenant Archit’s UT Connection

Till last night when our news reporter informed me about the sad demise of Lt. Archit Verdia in siachen glacier, I was not able to remember but was sure that I heard this name before somewhere.

Today morning when I was composing the news, something strikes in my mind and I search ‘Archit Verdia’ in our official Gmail account.
I was shocked to see that there was an e-mail conversation I had with Archit two months back.

UdaipurTimes.com was the only news source for martyred Lt. Archit to stay connected with his hometown, Udaipur.

We came to know this when he emailed us on May 30, 2011 from Siachin Glacier and showed his interest to meet us and share his experience in working at World’s Highest Battle Field on the height of 20,000 feet, in the same email conversation, Archit told us that he is going to visit Udaipur in November and that time he will share beautiful photographs of Siachen.
