Taziya Procession Concludes as Muslims Mark 10th Day of Muharram

The 10th day of Muharram is known as Ashura all over the world. Muslims highly respect the significance of this day and commemorate the death of Imam Hussain in Battle of Karbala by the army of the tyrant Yazid.

Muslims, of all sects, observed fast and held various religious events according to the traditional customs and belief.

Muslims rally out Chhadi Procession

Today on 7th day of Moharram, Muslims of Udaipur carried out chhadi-mubarak, the religious procession across the city; more than a dozen of chaddi and around 18 Alams (religious flags) became part of the devotional procession, starting from Mukherjee Chowk (Anjuman) and concluding at Chetak (Badi Paltan).

The custom of taking out chhadi is carried out before the 10th of Moharram, i.e. the day of Taziya, Ashura falling on Nov. 25.

Muslims all over the world express condolence on the martydom of Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad who battled in Karbala, 1400 years ago, with the tyrant Yazeed. [Read more...]

Taziya Preparation in Full Swing

Moharram, also known as Ashura falls on the 10th day of the first month of Islamic Calendar (Hijri). One of the biggest fests of Muslim Community in Udaipur, Ashura is scheduled on 25th November; the preparation for which is in its full swing these days, at all major Mosques and Muslim localities around city.

In Udaipur, on Moharram, Taziya processions are carried out by Sunni Muslims of town in remembrance of martyrs of Karbala. There are in all 48 Taziyas made in various Muslim colonies and Mosques, major among them include Chetak (Badi Paltan), Alipura and Dholi Bawri.

On 7th day of Moharram, a Chhadi Procession is carried out by the community, which travels from old city areas and conclude at their respective Mosques or Colonies, while the Taziyas are completed and moved out in open for the devotees. [Read more...]

District administrations with local residents are preparing to observe the day of Muharram on Sunday 24th Nov. A thorough inspection of road where taziyas will pass from was inspected by District Collector, along with top police officials of the city.

Take action against accused Resident Doctor, demands Talim-ul-Islam

A Memorandum was presented to the District collector by the People of Muslim Community under the banner of Anjuman Talimul Islam (ATI) and BJP Minority Morcha against the increasing rude behavior of resident doctors with the patients and especially against yesterday’s incidence of allegedly manhandling a woman patient.

Farukh Hussain, Secretary of A.T.I has stated, “The number of incidence of misbehavior by resident doctors of MB hospital with patients and their attendants are increasing day by day”.

Farukh also added that few days back people from all the community demonstrated in front of Collector’s office regarding the same issue, when a Rajput family was targeted by the doctors.

He recollected yesterday’s incidence and mentioned, “Yesterday a 55 year old woman Zahida Bano from Anjuman Chowk was slapped by Dr. Sudhir Malu, Resident Doctor on duty at room no.3”. [Read more...]

Eid Mubarak! Muslims celebrate Eid ul Adha

Muslims of the city celebrated the festival of Eid ul Adha today with the keen devotion and remembered the great sacrifice, made thousands of years ago by Prophet Ibrahim and his son Prophet Ismail in the name of God.

Bohras Celebrates Eid, Muslims to observe on 27th Oct

Eid ul Adha, the festival of sacrifice has been celebrated by the Dawoodi bohra community today, after conducting the Eid Namaz in various Mosques situated in the city, the community members exchanged wishes and observed the ritual of sacrificing the goat.

Eid ul Adha, also known as Bakri Eid and Eid ul Kabir is celebrated by Muslims all over the world, there are many historical events attached to Eid ul Adha, most importantly, it is celebrated every year after the pilgrimage of Hajj is complete. The festival is also closely related to the ancient incident of Prophet Ibrahim and his son Prophet Ismail.

Muslims of Udaipur will celebrate the festival on Saturday the 27th of Oct. Public holiday is declared on the occasion.

Goat Sold for Rs.50k at Udaipur Bakra Mandi

bakra-mandi2As the festival of sacrifice, Eid-ul-Adha arrives near, Muslims get busy finding a goat of their liking.  For the past one week, ‘bakra-mandi’ the goat market at Hathipol is swarming with sellers and buyers of Goats.  With sky touching inflation, prices of Goats have also been raised from the last year.

Jamal Khan, who has been trading in the bakra mandi for more than 10 years said, “More than 1000 goats are sold every day.  Traders, normally sellers and also some buyers come from nearby districts of Rajsamand, Chittorgarh, Banswara and Bhilwara”. [Read more...]
