Police Detained Innocents: Muslim Mahasabha

Members of Muslim Mahasabha presented today a memorandum to the Udaipur Divisional Commissioner, Subodh Kumar Agrawal and expressed their concern on the 13th April communal clashes at Mulla Talai and nearby areas of the city over an anti-religious remark on facebook.

Activists of Muslim Mahasabha alleged that police has forcibly detained innocent people of particular community from their homes and booked them under false accusations, some are even booked under Section 307 of IPC.

Moreover, the activists claimed that police has not taken any action against the accused who made the anti religious remark on social networking website. It was the remark that sparked the violence wherein several people from both communities received injuries in the clash that continued whole day. [Read more...]

First Mass Marriage of Muslim Community

Life Progressive Society (LPS) is organizing first Mass Marriage of Muslim Community on 26th May at Town Hall Campus, around 17 couples have registered themselves for this communal event, while society is expecting nearly 101 pairs, newly wedded couples will also take oath for saving the girl child.

Today, in conversation with media in a press conference Dr. Khalil Mohammad, President, Life Progressive Society informed that this Mass Wedding is first initiative of its kind in community, where 101 couples of Udaipur Zone are expected to get married, while 17 have already registered. Muslims of Udaipur marked the auspicious festival of Eid Milaad-un- Nabi (Birthday of Prophet Muhammad) with mass celebration, consisting of a colorful procession held today in the city.

A large number of Muslim fraternities, dressed in traditional attires and holding Islamic flag celebrated the festival with utmost devotion. The procession started from Anjuman Chowk laden with number of decorated vehicles, horses and camel carts, passed through various city areas and concluded at Brahmpol.

Diverse groups and Anjumans welcomed the procession with traditional Itr and Niyaz, while the procession passed through sabeel. [Read more...]

Muslim fraternities of Udaipur are prepared to celebrate the festival of Eid Milad–un-Nabi, birthday of Prophet Muhammad, tomorrow on 25 Jan. The weeklong preparations for the festival ended tonight with high end lighting, decoration and various other events.

All the mosques in different areas of the city are lavishly decorated, including muslim colonies with miniature replicas of Makkah and Medina, holy places in Islam.

Muslim men were seen preparing sweet dishes in large vessels for the community feast that will take place tonight.

Areas of Alipura, Khanjipeer, Chamanpura, Ayad, Silawatwadi and Mulla Talai are decorated for the auspicious day. [Read more...]

Administration Declares Dry Day on 25, 26 and 30th January

alcohol-prohibitedRajasthan State Administration has declared prohibition on selling of liquor on 25th January following the Islamic festival of Milad-un-Nabi (Birthday of Prophet Muhammad).

Commissioner of Excise, Dinesh Kumar has said that on 25th January, selling of alcohol including, beer will be completely prohibited.

Dry Day will also be continued on 26th January i.e. Republic Day of India and 30th January, Shaheed Diwas.

Largest Flag made on Milad-un-Nabi Festival

On the occasion of Islamic festival of Milad-un Nabi (Birthday of Prophet Muhammad), a Muslim devotee from Udaipur’s Alipura area has made a gigantic flag printed ‘Muhammad’ in Arabic script.

The flag maker Sayeed Ashiq Ali, is a resident of Ali Pura and has been making this flag from past twelve days, Satin cloth is used in preparation of the flag, height of which is 21 feet wide and 26 feet in length, while total surface area is 502 Sq feet, fully prepared flag will be taken out in a mass procession on 25th January.

In traditional events on Milad-un-Nabi, a mass procession is taken out by the Muslims, while some hold community feast in their respective colonies on the day, on the eve before the day various events are organized. [Read more...]

Muslim Mahasabha urges to close Liquor Shops on Milad-un-Nabi Festival

In order to prescribe peace and accord in the city on the day of Milad-un-Nabi (Birthday of Prophet Muhammad), the Muslim Mahasabha has appealed district collector to see/ensure that all liquor shops in the city remain shut on the day of the festival.

A memorandum has been presented in district collector’s office by members of Muslim Mahasabha, an organization that works for educational, social and economical welfare of the community

According to Mahasabha’s regional vice president Akhtar Ali Siddiqui, the day of Milad Un Nabi is celebrated with joy and respect. Members across the Muslim community participate in a massive procession through the city on this occasion. To avoid any anti social or unlawful activities members requested district authorities to release orders for closure of liquor shops in the city on the day.

In the absence of district collector Vikas Bhale, additional district collector B.R Bhati received the representatives of Mahasabha and assured to respond soon.

15th Urs of Mastan Baba begins Today

The 15th Urs of Muslim spiritual saint Mastan Baba began today with lifting of religious flag over the saint’s shrine located near Rani Road, Udaipur. Sajjad Nasheen Zulfikari Chishti from Ajmer Sharif Dargah offered the holy chadar on the shrine of Mastan Baba.

The devotees from nearby places, including the local communities took part in the procession that started from Mulla Talai Masjid and ended on the shrine of Mastan Baba.

Various religious ceremonies will be conducted as a part of traditional rituals during Urs of sufi saints. The Urs is organized for 4 days and will continue till January 11, 2012. [Read more...]

Peace Rally by Sarva Dharma Maitri Sangh

These lines of Mushtaq Chanchal described that, what is the motive behind the Peace March or the “Shanti Rally”

The rally showcased the colours of Unity as well as depicted the peaceful co-existence of different castes creeds, religions and sex. Maitri Sangh is known for organizing such rallies and programs to bring peace and harmony between different communities.

The rally started around 4:00PM from the organization’s office at Patel Circle. It was flagged off by Pradeep Kumawat, Director, Alok Sansthan along with Father Norbert Herman of Sarv Dharm Maitri Sangh.

Dr. Kumawat said that Maharana Pratap was the first person in Rajasthan to respect Sarva Dharma as his “Senapati” was Muslim and his soldiers were tribals. [Read more...]
