In a meeting today at the Divisional Commissioner’s office, the office bearer clarified that up-keep and maintenance of city’s parks and gardens in the responsibility of Nagar Nigam (Udaipur Municipal Corporation) . Nigam could assign the task to private service providers after following proper procedures.

Along with the timely maintenance of public parks in city, Subodh Agrawal also instructed Nagar Nigam to identify and develop parking space in various parts of city. Agrawal also asked to identify the land required for electricity department and draft a plan for building the sub-station.

District Collector Vikal Bhale also attended the meeting and instructed electricity department to shift all the road light poles that obstruct traffic on busy roads around the city.

Municipal Commissioner unaware about Suraj Yatra Meeting at Gandhi Ground

Commissioner of Udaipur Municipal Corporation, Satyanarayan Acharya said that he was completely unaware about the circumstances in which corporation had allowed mass gathering of a political party at Bhandari Darkshak Mandap (Gandhi Ground) since the corporation itself had decided that the ground wouldn’t be allocated to any private or political party except for the government programs.

Commissioner was questioned in a meeting held at Zila Parishad today regarding 20 point issues including illegal banners and posters installed in every corner of the city.

Rural Congress urges to save Gram Panchayats while making city Municipal Corporation

udaipur-cityMembers of the Congress Committee (Rural), including Sarpanchs of several villages wrote a letter to the Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, regarding the merging of several villages in the process of transforming Udaipur into a Municipal Corporation.

Hemant Shrimali, spokesperson, with Secretary Kamal Singh Choudhary, Badgaon Up-Sarpanch Narendra Suthar, Thur Sarpanch Ramesh Patel, Bhuwana Sarpanch Seema Chordiya and many other members of the Rural Congress showed their favor in transforming Udaipur into a Municipal Corporation, but added certain considerations, in their letter to the CM.

Rural congress members informed that administration is assimilating the nearby Gram Panchayats area in the process of making Municipal Corporation, however no consent from the related Gram Panchayats has been taken yet. [Read more...]

Dangi asks Singhals to re-construct boundary wall to facilitate smooth traffic

Among the various orders passed at the behest of the Municipal Council Chairperson, Rajni Dangi today on prevailing local issues, the Singhals were asked to break down the existing boundaries of their premises at Wolkem and their residences. The concerned authorities were asked to take note of all orders passed and ensure strict compliance. The following were the brief on the instructions.

Cover Garbage carrying vehicles

Dangi instructed the Municipal Council Garage Superintendent, Babu Lal Chouhan to order the staff of the garbage carrying vehicles to cover the vehicle with a tarpal (make shift cloth covering) so that the garbage does not fall down on roads while carrying it to the trenching ground. Surajpol to M.B. College Road to be broadened: Rajni Dangi

Rajni Dangi Chairperson MCU, along with MLA Gulab Chand Katariya surveyed the road from Surajpol to M B College and decided to broaden the road from both sides. The budget for the project is estimated to be about Rs. 40 lacs. Dangi said that broadening of roads must be done on priority as the traffic of the city is increasing with every passing day.

Gulab Chand Katariya was seen concerned about the ‘chouraha’ at Kumharo ka Bhatta as daily traffic congestion is reported here. Councilor Premsingh, Vandna Porwal, Paras Singhvi and AEN’s and JEN’s of the concerned area were present during the survey.

Meeting with State Government Advisor

Rajni Dangi today had a meeting with State Government Technical Advisor, H.S. Sancheti on the issues of allotting ‘Pattas’ to the people in the areas of Kamlawai, Dore Nagar, New Shakti Nagar and Kailash Colony.

Dangi informed that she has asked for the names or voter list of the people residing in these areas since 1965 so that the persons who are residing in these colonies for a long period can be identified.

Rajni Dangi to propose new Lake Authorization Tribunal for Udaipur

rajni-dangiRajni Dangi, Chairperson of Municipal Council Udaipur is going to send an official proposal to the Divisional Commissioner’s office asking to set up a new Lake Authorization Tribunal, specially meant for Southern Rajasthan region.

Dangi informed that, lakes are very important element in this area as everything depends on it and their conservation. Large regions of Udaipur and Kota districts are covered with lakes.

In Udaipur, Tourism is mainly dependent on lakes. Further, it is not worth to make a Tribunal for the entire state as the geographical conditions for Southern Rajasthan are different from other areas of Rajasthan. [Read more...]

Contractors’ Union to intensify their protests, if demands not met

Udaipur Municipal Council Contractors Union protested on Tuesday and has written a letter to Commissioner of Udaipur Municipal Council complaining of the inaction on their demands.

The union has also decided to boycott all the tenders until their demands are met.

The contractors mentioned all the demand in their letter and pointed that if no action is taken until September 15, 2012, then they will be stalling all the ongoing work in the city, leaving them under-constructed.

Contractors demand BSR should be implemented, registered contractors should not be charged with ‘earnest money’, any new tax by the government should not be implemented on the undergoing projects, office space should be allotted to Contractors Union, work instructions should be given within time limit after bidding, and none of the works should be stalled for more than 6 months and most importantly, the decision on royalty implemented by state government should be taken back.

Weakened Office Roof collapses, No casualties

In an incident that occurred last night, a big part of plaster from the roof at Co-operative society’s office collapsed. The office is situated on the first floor in the Municipal Council’s premise. This incident has raised some serious doubts over the quality of work in Udaipur’s Municipal Council’s office.

Kanti Lal Jain, accounts officer employed at Co-Operative Society told that plaster of the office ceiling fell on a computer, office table and on other important things. [Read more...]

On Papers: Gandhi Nagar of Kalkamata Road is in No-Man’s Land

UMC requests amendment to No-Construction Zone Rule

In a meeting organised at the Divisional Commissioner office, the Udaipur Municipal Council requested the Chief Secretary, Public Works Department, State Government, J.C. Mahanti, to review certain points related to the development of the no-construction zones in the city.

The UMC requested that the government should release downstream areas of Rao Ji Ka Haata, Hathi Pol, Ghanta Ghar, etc. from the No Construction zone. The UMC said that it was in public interest that such areas should be released.

It was decided that the final decision on the matter be taken in the upcoming meeting scheduled on 3rd July. [Read more...]
