New Executive Members of Jain Social Group (Lakecity) takes Oath

Oath taking ceremony of the newly elected executive board members of Jain Social Group ‘Lakecity’ took place few days back, at Lions Seva Sadan Sector-4.

In the newly elected Executive board, Mukesh Jain is the President, Yashwant Kothari on the post of Secretary, Dinesh Jain will serve the post of Vice-president, Rakesh Porwal will be new treasurer and Sunil Kokhawat will provide his services as Co-secretary.

All Set for Sakal Jain Samuhik Vivah on 26th Jan

sakal-jainThe 14th Samukhik Vivah (Mass Community Marriage) function of the Sakal Jain community will be organized on 26th January 2013. 25 couples will get married in the mass community wedding function held at BN College ground under the joint auspices of the Shree Mahaveer Yuva Manch Sansthan and Samuhik Vivah Samaroh Samiti.

Various preparations are already in place to make the event an ideal reminiscence for all. Rajkumar Fattawat, Chief Patron of Shree Mahaveer Yuva Manch Sansthan said that a VIP pandaal (tent) has been put into place for the Bride and Groom and for their special guests.

Wedding Schedule

The Baraat procession will start from Fatah School Ground at 9 in the morning and will reach BN College ground where Grooms will observe the tradition of Toran.

After that, the couples tying the knot will be seated on the main stage where the custom of Varmala will take place; this will be followed by Alankaran Samaroh 2013. A Mass feast for invited guests will take place consecutively. [Read more...]

Jains Demonstrate outside collectorate

  • Over a thousand gathered to express protest against assaulting of priest

More than one thousand people marching from various areas of the city congregated outside District Collector’s office and laid ‘Dharna’ in order to put across their demand for justice, against the brutal attack on Jain Muni Prabal Sagar in Gujarat.

With brief addresses by various community leaders, memorandum in the name of President of India and Chief Minister of Gujarat was handed over to district authority. Many political leaders, social organizations and trade associations were also present to express their distress over the issue.

A mass rally was started from town hall and passed on through various areas of the city, before setting outside Collectorate. The protest was headed by Jain priest Acharya Sukumalnandi Maharaj. [Read more...]

Jain Community to keep their Businesses close Tomorrow

Protest against the fatal attack on Jain Muni Prabal Sagar

In order to express their anger over the stabbing of a Jain priest Muni Prabal Sagar at Junagarh, Gujarat, the Jain community of Udaipur has decided to keep their businesses closed tomorrow and will organize a protest rally.

The decision came in a meeting that took place today at Adinath Bhawan sector-11, Hiran Magri under the leadership of Acharya Sukumalnandi Maharaj, where large number of community people gathered and discussed on the unfortunate incidence of attack on Jain muni.

Muni Prabal Sagar’s is admitted in Junagarh’s hospital and his condition is said to be critical, Muni Prabal Sagar received multiple injuries in the attack that took place on 31st December at Kamandal Kund. The attacker is already arrested by police. [Read more...]

Jain Community Demands Minority Status

Members of Jain Community gave a memorandum to ADM (City) Mohammad Yaseen Pathan today. Addressing the Chief Minster, the community demanded Minority Status for Jain Community in Rajasthan.

Moti Singh Mehta, General Secretary of the community informed that Jains are distinct from Hindu Community, like Buddhist and they have different religious rituals and traits.

Mehta also mentioned, the community has been regarded as minority in 9 States across India, in Rajasthan the community comprises a mere 1.28 % of the total population of the State, while in India the proportion is only 0.47 % and therefore the community demands Minority Status.

Community members also drew attention of the ADM towards a letter, whereby a delegation met Prime Minister regarding the same issue.

56th Death Anniversary of Jain Muni Tarachand

On the 56th Death Anniversary of reverend Muni (Saint) Tarachand on November 26, 2012, a program will be organized at Tarak Guru Jain Granthalaya at 7 in the evening where an hour long Navkar Mahamantra Mahajaap will be conducted by all the devotees.

Tarachand was born in Sannikat Bambora village near Udaipur and took Jain Bhagvati diksha at the very young age of 10 years.

Pilgrims return from successful Sammed Shikhar visit

The pilgrims of Shri Sakal Jain Teerth Sangh returned today in the evening after their pilgrimage to Sammed Shikhar. The ambience was emotional as the pilgrims met their family members, who came to receive them at the City Railway Station, after a long time.

The pilgrimage which was organized by Mahaveer Yuva Manch under the banner of Shri Sakal Jain Teerth Sangh, left from Udaipur in a 3 Tier AC Train which then covered the route to Sammed Shikhar, passing by Hastinapur, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Mussourie and Pavapuri.

Today the pilgrims reached Udaipur City Railway Station, where their relatives and community people were waiting for them to arrive. They were welcomed with garlands.

Rajkumar Fanawat, Dilip Surana, Tinu Mandawat,Shyam Nagori, Sanjay Bhandari, Basanti Lal Kothifoda, Lokesh Kothari, Narendra Porwal, Naresh Gadia, Chandraprakash Chittora, Dr. Asha Kothari, Vijay Lakshmi Galundiya, Leeladevi-Jeevansingh Mehta were honored by all.
