ACB arrests Commercial Tax Officer

ctoA Government Officer was arrested last night of 18 Dec. by the Anti Corruption Bureau of Udaipur, for possessing assets disproportionate to officer’s income.

Mohan Lal Meena, native of Bhilwara, presently residing in Sector-3, Hiran Magri is a CTO (Commercial Tax Officer) posted in Udaipur. Meena has been arrested by ACB in relation to a case registered against him in 2007, for receiving bribery of Rs. 25,000 and possession of assets worth Rs. 75 lacs, an amount disproportionate to the income of the then ACTO.

In the year 2007, when Meena’s house was raided by ACB, an amount of Rs. 22 lacs in cash and few property ownership documents were recovered. Mohan Meena was though suspended for a term of 3 years, in order to save himself from further prosecution, he declared on a back dated Stamp-paper that his house in Hiran Magri was sold to two of his friends, Jamnesh Kumar Dupper resident of Dhan Mandi and Niranjan sahu resident of Nara Khara. In a two different incidents, reports of alleged theft and burglary have been lodged at Surajpol and Hiran Magri Police Stations yesterday.

Durga Shankar Sharma lodged a complaint that his house located at Bhatiyani Chohta was found open and 5 tola gold ornaments, 2 silver glasses and 3 gold coins were reportedly stolen, when he was at Chittorgarh. Sharma presently lives in Chittorgarh and his house at Bhattiyani Chohta was locked since long. The incident came to notice when Sharma visited Udaipur on 22 Nov. [Read more...]

A case of theft was witnessed at Mahaveer Nagar, Hiran Magri toady, when the tenants staying in the house were out for the pilgrimage.

The theft was executed in the house rented by Om Prakash Mandowara, owner of Jewelry shop at Bada Bazaar.

According to a neighbor, Mukat Pukharna, “Today evening my wife saw that the main gate of Om Prakash’s portion of the house was laying open and the lock was broken off. When she entered the house, she saw all the things scattered unevenly on the floor”. [Read more...]

Elderly man dies due to suffocation

An elderly man, resident of sector-11, died of suffocation caused due to fire that broke out late in the night of 13-14 Nov in his house.

However, no police case is registered by the victim’s family as it is considered an accident. According to sources, the incident took place when the family was out for Diwali celebration while the elderly man was alone in the house.

Smoke coming out from the house alerted the neighbors who informed family members about the mishap. The victim was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead upon admission.

One of the most happening venues of Dandiya in Udaipur is “My Dandiya” at Swagat Vatika, Sec-4 Hiran Magri. Blowing loud the trumpet, the entry for the first night of Dandiya is kept free by the organizers.

Hosting the 4th consecutive year, “My Dandiya” is going to be held at Swagat Vatika, Sector-4 Hiran Magri. The musical extravaganza is organized in the joint association of Platinum Group of Colleges and 94.3 My FM. The show is carried out by Rohit Patni and Kapil Jadon.

Tonight’s program will start at 7:30 sharp with prayer followed with various musical rounds of Dandiya with Kapil Paliwal’s music composition and RJ Ankit’s delightful anchoring.

For the next 9 days, My Dandiya is all free for Girls, while Boys can get passes on nominal rates. The venue is well set with availability of refreshments, seating arrangements.

According to the organizers, 5000 people can enjoy Dandiya Raas at Swagat Vatika. UT wishes all of you a fabulous and blessed Navratri.

burnt-victimsIn a tragic mishap late evening on 29 Sept, three members of a family received burns because of the fire caused by alleged leakage of LPG gas in their residence at Hiran Magri, Sec-5.

According to Police, At 10 PM, a Fire caused due to the leaking LP gas in a residential premises that caused burn-injuries to Gaurishankar Sharma (35), Khushboo (30) and Kamal (12).

Khushboo is comparatively more injured than the other two. All were first rushed to the nearby Satellite Hospital but subsequently referred to MB Hospital.

Lesser participation was observed at the UIT premises today, in the auction of the residential plots at Chitrakut Nagar “A Block” and Hiran Magri, Sec-9.

There were 14 plots in all to be auctioned by UIT. Of which, 7 were in Chitrakut Nagar to be auctioned today, but no one came out to purchase the plots in that area. UIT will auction the remaining plots of Hiran Magri, Sec-9, tomorrow from 11:00 am onwards.

Another Chain Snatching makes mockery of Law and Order in Udaipur

In another incident of chain snatching reported at the Hiran Magri Police Station, a 2.5 tola Gold Chain was snatched off a 62 year old lady.

Sumitra, wife of Ratan Lal, resident of Seva Nagar, Chankyapuri in Hiran Magri, was reportedly returning home at 8:45AM from the Jain Temple at Sector 4, Hiran Magri, when two persons on a bike came and snatched her chain.

The riders were driving a Black colored bike and the pillion rider was wearing a Black Striped T-Shirt, as reported to the Hiran Magri Police Station as per information provided by the Officer on Duty at the station.

The bike and apparel resemble the two riders who snatched a Gold Bracelet off a victim last night from Basti Ram Ji Ki Badi, in Bohrawadi.

The police are looking into the case.

Interestingly, both the incidents mentioned above occured within 12 hours of each other, putting public concern at highly disturbing levels.
