Tri-Party MoU signed for Sewerage Treatment Plant

Treatment-PlantThe First Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) of Udaipur has been approved today in a meeting held at UIT, between the officials of the Urban Improvement Trust (UIT), Udaipur Municipal Council (UMC) and Hindustan Zinc Ltd (HZL).  A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the above named towards the construction and other related matters.

As per the approval and MoU, a SewerageTreatment Plant with a capacity of 20 Million Ton per day will be constructed in the vicinity of Manvakheda area by HZL.  The plant is expected to start giving its services to the city after 18 months as the deadline for the same has been established.  The land for the same will be finalized soon. Zila Parishad General Meeting Held

zila-parishad-udaipur1The general meeting of the District Council (Zila Parishad) was organised today where the regional issues were highlighted by the people’s representatives.

The meeting was led by Madhu Mehta, District Chief in which she asked the authorities from various departments to take a note of the issues highlighted by the representatives and do the needful and give the information about it to the House (Council).

The working agencies were instructed to work on and file a report on the points raised on Road Construction by Parmanand Mehta, Premprakash Labana and Khayalilal Suhalka. It was assured by the District Collector that the road construction sites would be visited soon in this month. The representatives were asked to file their issues related to same. [Read more...]




Add. Chief Secretary Holds Assessment Meeting

B.B. Mohanty, Additional Chief Secretary, (Development) held a meeting today to discuss issues like proper implementation of welfare projects launched for the tribal and to ensure that tribals are benfitted by it at the Seminar Hall of Divisional Commisoner Office. He appreciated the rapid implementation of Flagship programs in the division.

He said, “It is the prime need of the hour to execute various schemes being launched for the upliftment of SCs and STs to the individuals belonging from the same and who need it.” Moreover, he also took report about the progress of action of different announcements done by Chief Minister in Budget for various departments and the strategies adopted to bring those plans to action. UIT faces Water Problem for Swimming Pool at Khel Gaon

Khel Gaon, the sports complex being constructed at Bhuwana, Udaipur under the charge of the Urban Improvement Trust (UIT), received a major setback when it was discovered that there is inadequate water supply in the area.

The Swimming Pool at the Khel Gaon has already taken its final shape a year back and is in a position to be handed over to the District Sports Council.

Immediately after the declaration of the fiscals for the year 2012-13, the pending work at UIT has gained pace, which also includes building the Khel Gaon Sports Complex being one of the major projects of UIT. This task, though now completed is facing water problems due to the bad water table in that particular locality. [Read more...]




City Progress revealed by UIT Chairman

roop-kumar-khuranaUIT Chairman Roop Kumar Khurana discussed a number of running projects in and around the city and gave a broader overview of the upcoming UIT budget plan 2012 – 13 in a meet the with local media personnel today morning.

In his talk, the following projects and developments were mentioned:

Avoid water clogging in rainy season

UIT has passed a work order of nearly Rs. 70 lacs to make the drainage system proper, so that local mass residents in downstream areas don’t have to face coalescence in the coming rainy season. This was announced, keeping in mind the past two years and complains from different parts of the city.

Priority to Flyover after UIT- Budget

fly-over-planWork on Elevated road proposed between Court Circle and Udiapol is expected to start soon after UIT Budget for the session 2012-13. Work on completing the requisite formalities for road construction will be started on a priority basis after the Budget.

The Ground Survey for the elevated road has already been completed in the month of February and DPR (Daily Project Report) forwarded to Roop Kumar Khurrana, Chairman, UIT. Though the pace of work was retarded due to UIT budget, but the project is soon expected to gain momentum as per information received from higher officials at UIT. [Read more...]

During the run-up to the UP elections there were news, views and articles regarding a political party promising reservation for Muslims ostensibly to impress the Muslim voters. Then there was the usual noise about ‘Muslim appeasement’ and related reactions.

When the election results were declared the whole thing became clear – Muslims no longer are carried away by poll eve noises. Thereafter immediately, we are acquainted with the National Survey figures regarding poverty indices. The survey declared Muslims as the most backward community. 300 Yr old Bawadi to Get a New Look

bawadi-one1Udaipur has a number of Bawadis (man-made water reservoirs) which used to be one of the most important sources of water for hundreds of years. Though many of the bawadis came to end due to lack of maintenance and other such reasons, still some of them are supplying water to locals of Udaipur by mechanically linked to ground water.

One such, nearly 300 years old ‘Maa ji ki Bawadi’ at Jagdish Chowk area which was left abandoned from the last 40 years is now again taking shape after the initiative by local residents of Jagdish Chowk. The cleaning and renovation of this historical bawadi is taken care by Jagdish Mandir Seva Samiti with the help of Udaipur Municipal Council. [Read more...]




Heritage workshop, participants missing till last session

It was surprising to note that only 30 out of the 55 councilors (Parshad) of Udaipur Municipal Corporation (UMC) attended the workshop on “Integrating Heritage Resources in Master Plan of Udaipur” commenced on 19th Feb at the Rajasthan College of Agriculture campus.

A team of city planners from Strasbourg (France) and Mysore, engineers from various heritage conservation organizations and local administrative bodies including UMC and UIT were gathered. [Read more...]
