First Mass Marriage of Muslim Community

Life Progressive Society (LPS) is organizing first Mass Marriage of Muslim Community on 26th May at Town Hall Campus, around 17 couples have registered themselves for this communal event, while society is expecting nearly 101 pairs, newly wedded couples will also take oath for saving the girl child.

Today, in conversation with media in a press conference Dr. Khalil Mohammad, President, Life Progressive Society informed that this Mass Wedding is first initiative of its kind in community, where 101 couples of Udaipur Zone are expected to get married, while 17 have already registered. Prayers, Hymns Mark Good Friday

On the occasion of Good Friday today, hundreds of local people celebrated the day by visiting various Churches in the city and praying with unflinching devotion and faith.

At Fatima Rani Church Udaipur, a huge number of Christians participated in the traditional Good Friday procession that retraces Jesus’ walk by caring the Cross. Along the way, people chanted prayers and Sang Hymns. Good Friday events started with a late noon prayer service at the Cathedral followed by the procession in the St. Paul’s School Udaipur. Rev. Palm Sunday Celebration at Shepherd Memorial

church1The Christian community of Udaipur celebrated Palm Sunday at Shepherd Memorial Church today. On the occasion, special prayers were organised and verses of Holy Bible were read in the church by Rev. Prem Prakash Peter from Mount Abu.

JPL-2013 concludes with SHCC’s substantial win

One and a half month long weekend Sindhi community cricket tournament, Jhulelal Premier League (JPL-2013), concluded today with the final match between Team Bhopalpura and St. Hirdaram Cricket Club (SHCC), Pratap Nagar played at MB College ‘A’ ground.

In the match, Team Bhopalpura batted first but could not stand against the strong bowling attack of SHCC and lost all the wickets at a score of 86 runs. In return, Mohit Kamra from SHCC displayed a piece of great batting and took his team to register a comprehensive win by 7 wickets. Kamra was awarded the Man of the Match trophy for his performance. 28 Couples take vows in Mass Wedding of Sindhi Community

wedding_sindhi4In the 17th mass wedding ceremony of Sindhi Community, organised by Julelal Sewa Samiti at Vidhya Niketan School, Hiran Magri sector-4, 28 couples took wedding vows. All the newly wedded couples received blessings from Mahant Swaroop Das of Ajmer.

In this special function which is organized every year on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shiva-Ratri, around 32 varied Sindhi associations offered their service in the management of the programme and Mahant Swaroop Das from Ajmer showed up specially to bestow his blessing to the newly wed couples. Dawoodi Bohras and Human Rights Groups Celebrate Women’s Day

Women Commission of the Central Board of Dawoodi Bohra Community (Youth), Peoples Union of Civil Liberty, Astha Sansthan, Mahila Atyachaar Virodhi Manch, Rajasthan Pragatisheel Mahila Federation, Akhil Bhartiya Pragatisheel Sangathan and Vikalp Sansthan-all based at Udaipur- jointly organized a seminar at Bohra Youth Community Centre on 07th March 2013. The topic of discussion was “Mahila Hinsa: Chunautiyan evam Upai (Violence against Women: Challenges and Remedial Measures)”.

The Function was chaired by Ved Vyas, eminent scholar and President Rajasthan Sahitya Academy Jaipur. A large numbers of people-men, women, young and old-attended the discussions packing the hall to its capacity. [Read more...]

Last day of league matches at Jhulelal Premier League

Last round of league matches were played today in the ongoing Annual Sindhi Community Cricket Tournament ‘Jhulelal Premier League’ at MB College ‘A’ ground.

The first match was played between Team Bhopalpura and St Hirdaram Cricket Club (SHCC) in which SHCC achieved a target of 110 runs set by Team Bhopalpura and won the match by 7 wickets. Harsh Ahuja from Bhopalpura scored the highest 23 runs from the losing side while Mohit Kamra, who was declared Man of the Match, scored a half century (54) for SHCC.

In the second match, Surrey Club defeated Bratt Club by 12 runs. Playing first, Surrey Club gave a target of 122 runs with the contribution of 25 runs by Jitesh Thakur and 18 runs by Deepak. In response, Bratt Club could only make 110 runs. Deepak also took 3 wickets was declared the Man of the Match. [Read more...]

Bohra Community Stands Against Swine Flu

Vaccine to combat swine flu was dispersed among the masses in a camp organised today by Bohra Youth Medical Relief Society.

The camp started at 7 in the evening at Bohra Youth Medicare Centre in Bohrawadi and was sponsored by Rehana Germanwala, Councillor, Ward 48. Around 4000 individuals were benefited by free medical doses. [Read more...]

Procession to Mark 102nd Birthday of Religious Leader

bohra-procession7Thousands of Bohra devotees of Syedna Muhammad Burhanuddin, the highest priest of Dawoodi Bohra Community, participated in a mass colorful procession in Udaipur today to mark the 102nd Birth Anniversary of the priest which is on 2nd March 2013.

Procession laden with several community bands, horses and camel carts, men and children dressed in the traditional attire marched through city areas; the procession ended at Boharwadi, the bohra residential colony.

Organized under the banner of Shabab ul Eiddiz Zahabi Udaipur, in close association of Shia Dawoodi Bohra Jamaat, the procession was part of the weeklong birthday celebration of 52nd Dai. [Read more...]
