Five people, including an auto-rickshaw driver, were injured in a road mishap that took place today evening at Chetak Circle.
The accident took place when a motorcyclist coming from wrong-side of the road hit an auto-rickshaw full of passengers. The auto-rickshaw driver Sikander (in photo above) sustained head injuries while the passengers (all tourists from Ahmedabad) were also injured. [Read more...]
A Maruti Omni van coming from wrong side of the road collided with a speeding Audi car at Chetak Circle, opposite Shepherd Memorial Church, today afternoon.

Displaying utmost keenness towards his duty and responsibility, the highest police officer of Udaipur, T. C. Damor (I. G. Range) caught hold of one of the assailants who was thrashing a taxi driver in the middle of the road, today afternoon.
According to eye witnesses, I.G. was passing from Chetak Circle in his car, when he saw two youths literally dragged out a taxi driver from his taxi and started beating him with sticks. Damor stopped there, got out of his car and chased one of the assailants, before calling extra police force to control the situation.
Meanwhile, one of the youth involved in the assault called his gang too, probably to demonstrate his strength, however, due to the presence of I.G. no one from the gang of youth dared to came forward to assist the attackers. I.G. Damor was accompanied with his guard. [Read more...]
An accident occurred at Chetak Circle today afternoon when a Manza car, while stationary at the traffic signal was hit by a car (XUV) coming from the Shiksha Bawan Choraha. There were no reported casualties or injuries.
As told to UT by Janendra Upadhyay, resident of Ashok Nagar, “I was returning from Chetak Circle to Ashok Nagar and waiting for the signal to open, when suddenly a Mahindra XUV hit my car from behind and in the mishap my car was damaged but nobody was injured.” [Read more...]
Chetak Cinema, the movie theatre that screened cinema shows for decades in Udaipur is finally getting flattened, making it a history forever. The rear section of the building is already demolished and soon the front part will also be brought down.
Saifuddin Bhalamwala, the owner of Chetak Cinema has confirmed the demolition of the building, but what will come up on its place is still not decided. However, sources say that the location is favorable for a mall and Udaipur might see another mall on the stand of Chetak Cinema. [Read more...]
A musical evening by New Heavens Entertainment was organized at Shepherd Memorial Church, Chetak Circle. The evening was dedicated especially to Lt. Archit Verdia and Deputy Commandant Tarun Gupta, who sacrificed their lives for the country.

A bomb hoax in a local bank branch has put the Udaipur police and administration in a worrying situation today, on the eve of Independence Day. After nearly one and half hour of a fine search operation, the police has finally declared the information to be the work of some miscreants and anti-social elements.

Udaipur Police has arrested two people with illegal firearms, which were purchased today from different locations of the city. According to the initial investigations, the accused disclosed to having purchased these guns for selling them further.

An underage boy was caught today by Hathipol Police Station in the case of theft where mobile phones and chargers were stolen from a mobile shop on 11th May, 2012.
According to Police, Ravi (name changed) was caught by Hathipol Police today from Gangapur, Banswara and was brought to Udaipur. Eleven mobiles were seized from his possession.
For the record, on 11th May, 2012 – burglars stole over 40 mobiles and chargers from from a mobile shop on Chetak Circle, altogether worth over Rs. 50,000 and it was suspected that a youngster was also in the group of robbers, as they made a passage to enter shop which could only fit in a small boy.
Police would be presenting the boy in court tomorrow.
