Restaurant Owner manhandles and injures city businessman

chawal

Amit Khamesra, a well-known business man of Udaipur, was injured by a restaurant owner at a private party that was being held at The Chawlas restaurant near the Shobagpura roundabout.

In the incident, as narrated in the FIR lodged with the police and confirmed by the present guests, the problems began when the host, Jasdeep complained on the delay and the poor quality of the food being served.

Amit also complained to the owner of The Chawla’s restaurant, on the poor quality and delay in serving food to the guests who were attending the birthday party of Jasdeep Sethis daughter, a friend of Amit.

The owner did not take it sportingly, and a series of abusive altercations began.  The nephew of the owner, Himanshu, interjected and started an altercation.  At this point of time, Amit, getting disgusted with the behavior, turned away from the scene and was walking toward the restaurant, when Himanshu in a fit of anger picked up a stirring rod from a heated pot and rushed toward Amit.  Seeing this, the father of Jasdeep intervened, halted him and snatched the rod from his hand.

Still being angry, Himanshu picked up a brick and hurled it at Amit.  Another guest, Piyush Bhardwaj tried to stop the brick, which anyway hit Amit on the head, causing a deep gash.

An FIR has been registered by Amit Khamesra at the Sukher Police Station against Himanshu and the owner of the restaurant.

The police have said that they have started investigations on the matter.

Yes UT, I and many like me have faced the same problem of bad food and miserable service of this Restaurent, and to add to this the owners of this restaurent have also started phisically abusing their customers, what a pity???? I condemn the attack on this businessman and would like to see the attackers behind bars!!! A man has every right to complain for the bad quality of food and service when he is paying so dearly for his orders.

  2. Kankush Sisodia says:

this is not all true, I was also at the restaurant at the time when this incident took place…………both restaurent managment and party host and their friends were responsible of this……those guys were and were abusing the waiters and later also got physical with them. They were also abusing the owner and the manager in a very unethical manner.

The story that UT has provided is one sided biased and I am personally very disappointed with UT for there biased behavior.
when you report a story then you should make sure that you inquire from both the parties and even eye witnesses and should neve report a story only listing to one person or party, this is the first and foremost rule of journalism. I am highly disappointed with UT’s action and I have never expected this from UT.

At last I could like to conclude that this Story is FAKE and BIASED.

    • @ Kankush … M so sorry to hear that when a restaurant owner hits his customers with Bricks is okay with you. I was also the witness to the incident. I do agree that the discussion got hot from both sides but can you ever justify a hotel industry guy to get aggressive with his customers for complaining about food quality. I am so disappointed about your lack of empathy. The guy who was injured was a family man and the brick hit him in the head.
When you are in hotel industry you come across lots of customers… some are not so subtle with the way they complaint but that does not mean the staff has the right to get aggressive. Amit was walking off the garden to leave when Himanshu, nephew of Sanjay Dembla hit him with brick. Previously he also tried hitting him with hot oil. Damn it how can u ever justify the actions of hotel. Maybe coz u were not the one who was wronged.
Also if you have any doubts there were numerous other witnesses to the account. And you can verify your facts from the police reports as well.

  3. I had come with my family to eat in the restaurant.. I also saw what happened. It was absolutely disgusting with the way the restaurant guys treated their customer. The food quality has deteriorated and if someone complains about it then the hotel staff must take it sportingly. This incident is true and I am sorry to know that despite being there people think that it was fine the way the hotel ppl behaved.

Shocking to say the least. Well done UT for reporting this and also mentioning the restaurant’s name – something that the local dailies shied away from. Perhaps for the sake of objectivity you could’ve also published the restaurant owner’s version of events too. In any case, this is one place that’s certainly off my list of eateries to check out.

  5. Kankush Sisodia says:

@Ridhima: You are right, the employe should have not thrown the brick on the customer but if you provoke a person to a extent to which he looses his patience and that incident is not considered as crime, it is considered as an accident. Using abbusive word (mind t the level of abussive words used in hindi were so cheap and unethical and a common man would never heard of them) against the family member disturbs any person and himanshu was not the one to get physical first……it was the host’s friends who first got physical with staff, himanshu and then the owner. But what I think is you completely misguided my comment. I never said that Himanshu was right or wrong, I just questioned about the biasness of UT on this report. All I ment to say is that they should have taken in consideration the points of both the parties before reporting anything.
    You are misjudging my comment

    • @Kankush: Please review the UT report which clearly states that Himanshu first tried to stab Amit with an A rod and then he threw brick on him so i donot call it as an accident and would rather say that he did that deliberately and if these acts are justified in your opinion then i would say that it should happen with you as well and then you’ll understand how things turn ugly

  6. Nishant Mehta says:

How can UT blame the himanshu and owner of hotel.. UT should first investigate the matter that wht is actual problem betw. the owner and customer and then take decision..How ut can write anything which is totally wrong.. and
related to food i hve eaten the food which is too tasty ..

  7. @Kankush: Also like to add if Himashu has not done anything wrong why is he on Run and why doesnt he surrender himself in front of police

  8. Kankush Sisodia says:

Jab log aaki burai karen toh samajlo aap tarakki kar rahe ho….:)
now that’s all I have to say………and we should rather stop arguing and let the law decide who is guilty and who is not.
    TIME WILL SHOW THE TRUTH

  9. After going through all the eye witness comments and having been personally a victim of stinking food and filthy service at this restaurant I really think that there are a very few people like kankush ( personally I think that he is related to the restauro owners) would stand on the wrong side of the fence and defend some criminals for their act. I personally think that when a customer has to pay the high prices for a low grade dinner he has all the right to get angry, if the owners cannot give services and good food then why the hell are they running a restauro, and with such good goons on their side they could start some more profitable business. Well done UT just like this do not shy away from true news.

insaan 2 waqt ki roti ke liye hi too mehnat karta hai….vo bhi garam nahin aur bina butter ke

  11. Kankush Sisodia says:

Critics are only for important and powerful personality and right now I fell as one heck of imp. person here and Mr nasha let me tell you that I am just a hardware shop owner from Surajpole and i am a frequent customer to chawlas and your comment on me as i might be person from chawlas makes me laugh. I owner of chawlas property WOW..!! it sounds good.

  12. @ Kankush… I was just stating what was obvious. And if you were actually a witness to the entire thing you would not doubt the truth. I am sure you are a hardware guy coz if you had been in hotel industry you would know not all customers use ethical language to put across their complaints. Not only in hotel industry but in the general business arena language is not always subtle. But the hospitality industry is known for its courtesy. If they had so much problems with the way customers speak then they should not be in this industry. Also then abuses got hurled from both ends. And Boss despite everything if that accident would have seriously injured the guy in question who would have been responsible. Its easier to say than stand by the truth. I am not justifying anybody’s action. all I am saying is that when you open a restaurant u need to objectively and patiently handle complaints instead of getting physical.

  13. YES…UT…I tried CHAWLAS food once and was very dissapointed. The staff was also not courteous. The service was poor and I am shocked to learn about this incidence .How can a person who’s running a Restaurant be so uncivilised and uncourteus.Whatever happened…but getting PHYSICAL….cannot be JUSTIFIED.Hope Amit gets JUSTICE soon.
