Resident Doctor allegedly Manhandles Woman Patient

A 55-year-old woman patient was allegedly physically abused by a resident doctor today at MB hospital. The identity of the doctor is not known till late evening but later he was recognized as Dr. Sudhir Malu, after giving statement to a news channel.

A special investigation committee has been made by hospital authority to check the issue.

Large number of people, including victim patient’s family gathered outside the hospital and expressed their agitation over the issue. A police complaint has been lodged against the unknown resident doctor.

According to police, Zahida Banu (55) resident of Mukherjee Chowk lodged the complaint against the doctor for allegedly manhandling, abusing and mistreating her when she requested to check her medical reports.

Zahida was suffering from pain in her ribs and went to see the doctor sitting in room no. 3 of outdoor section of MB hospital.

Zahida told police that when she asked the concerned resident doctor on duty for her checkup, he threw her form and started abusing her and slapped her.

Zahida said, “The doctor misbehaved with me, I requested him not to use bad words, on this, he got up and slapped me, my son who was standing outside the room came in and when he tried to stop the doctor, he left”.

After the incident a large number of people, including patients gathered. Police immediately reached the hospital, SHO Hathipol and Anant Kumar; Deputy North joined the team at MB hospital.

Dr. S. K. Kaushik,(in photo above) Principal RNT Medical College said, “We have made an investigation committee and will take action against the doctor”.

Goverdhan Lal, SHO Hathipol Police Station said, “We have lodged the complaint and started the investigation.”

In an interview given to a news channel, Dr. Sudhir Malu denied all charges against him and said that the woman patient was insisting him to check her report first, while other patients were waiting in the queue. He also denied for physically abusing Zahida Banu.

Zakir Hussain, President of Minority Morcha also went to the principal’s office and demanded the suspension of accused doctor within two days and also said that if the accused will not be suspended within the given time, then BJP Minority Morcha will take further action.

    Doctor should be punished only if he is guilty but if he is not and the woman is lying, she should be given harsh punishment, similarly political party representative who is engaging in blackmailing should also be put into jail, political power is not for abusing right of either poor or rich.
