Muslims of Udaipur announced the begin of the Holy Month of Ramzan from Sunday 22 July as the moon was not sighted on Friday 20 July after evening prayers, not even the nearby areas of the Udaipur region could see the moon in order to announce the month of Ramzan.
People were confused till late evening of Friday because nothing was clear about the moon. Seeing the moon decides the begin of the Holy month.
Muslims believe the month of Ramzan is one of the holiest months in Islamic Calendar and many influential Islamic events are attached with Ramzan including the presentation of the Quranic verses, conveyed as a message from the Almighty Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) during this month.
Reciting the Quran and indulging in prayers, fasts and giving of alms are the major mandatory activities done during this month.
Correction: Friday was 20th July, by mistake it first published with 21st. Apologies for that.
