Rajni Dangi, Chairperson of Municipal Council Udaipur is going to send an official proposal to the Divisional Commissioner’s office asking to set up a new Lake Authorization Tribunal, specially meant for Southern Rajasthan region.
Dangi informed that, lakes are very important element in this area as everything depends on it and their conservation. Large regions of Udaipur and Kota districts are covered with lakes.
In Udaipur, Tourism is mainly dependent on lakes. Further, it is not worth to make a Tribunal for the entire state as the geographical conditions for Southern Rajasthan are different from other areas of Rajasthan.
She said, “There must be a separate “Lake Authorization Tribunal” for the regions of Kota and Udaipur, headquartered in Udaipur”.
According to the Chairperson, in this Tribunal, there will be a committee that will include Public Representatives, MP’s, MLA’s, and the elected candidates of local authorities, like Municipal Council.
She also added that, this proposal should be send to the State Government for consideration. While quoting Section-13 of Existing Lake Tribunal, at present, Tribunal can’t force the elected representative body of the Municipal Council to follow its orders or instructions.
“There will be equal number of the elected candidates in the Tribunal with numbers of the Honorary Members deputed by the Government”, she stated.
