The 10 days Ganesha Festival concluded today with utmost joy amid tight security all around Udaipur. Hundreds and thousands of people assembled in group with beautifully decorated Ganesha idols to give their last tribute to the lord of fortune by submerging the idols into lakes.
Since early morning people in group chanting ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya’ were seen taking the idols in a form of procession, singing and dancing on the dutiful rhythm gathered on the shores of lakes viz. Pichola, Fateh Sagar and Badi to immerse the idol popularly known as Ganpati Visarjan.
One of the major Ganpati Visarjan was carried out by Mewar Pratap Dal at Gangaur Ghat of Lake Pichola.
Ganshyam Chawla, the president of the organization said, “We have been organizing Ganesh Visarjan from last many years with dedicated 50 volunteers to conduct the ceremony effectively. We also take care to save our lakes from any pollution; all idols are dipped in shallow water so that the leftovers can be removed easily. We follow our customs without polluting the lakes.”
At Fateh Sagar, visarjan ceremony was conducted but idols were not allowed to be submerged in the lake and are being kept on shores and they will be taken to Lake Badi later on.
Between mild to heavy rain showers which started in the city since afternoon, the devotees were cheering the fine climate and they were enjoying the festival.
