[photos] Valentine’s Day in Udaipur

valentines-day1

Love finds its own way to prosper no matter how many obstructions it encounters. A fairly similar scene was observed today on Valentine’s Day at many lovers’ favorite points including parks, gardens, lakesides, etc.

Many romantically aggravated couples faced agitation by a group of people, who rallied against the western concept of celebrating Valentine’s Day.

While dozens of young men were seen holding sticks and shouting slogans, the Police were seen protecting the young couples.

Another group of people against Valentine’s Day took another way to connect the day to local fairytale lovers ‘Dhola-Maru’. They, in a civilized manner interrupted the couples getting cozy in parks, etc and introduced them to the legend of Dhola Maru and appealed not to show off their love and sentiments publicly.

Besides all the drama, romance, action and agitation, Valentine’s Day 2012 ended and here are some images captured by UT photographers and reporters Sayeed Ahmed and Sohail Khan.
