The penultimate day at Panache’12, the annual fest of Sir Padampat Singhania University Udaipur ended with music and dance extravaganzas, with the ultimate being the Parikrama Rock Concert.

Parikrama now becomes the reason why this fest will be remembered for a long time as the start event touched everyone’s heart effortlessly with back to back hit numbers.

The day began with a merry gathering of restless students, who came together to be a part of the Limca Book of Records event, wearing separate shoes in each foot! Seeing each other in different shoe combinations in each foot set a bizzare sight for all to witness.

At the end of the days line of contests and conferences, which the students participated in with interest, it was then time for the evening of ROCK!.

The Rudraksh band took up stage to mark the opening of Parikrama. Once again, the band connected with the crowd of students naturally with their excellent covers of ‘Aadat’, ‘Sajni’, ‘Garaj Baras’ and the retro ‘Yeh Kali Kali Akhein’.

Parikrama then launched their performance with an uproar and the audience yearning to quench their thirst for enigma.
Parikrama mostly performed their own original numbers, but also covered great artists like Pink Floyd, Guns N’ Roses, Coldplay and AC/DC.

The band, comprising of Nitin Malik on lead vocals; Sonam Sherpa, the lead guitarist; Saurabh Choudhary, supporting with the guitar; Subir Malik on the synthesizers; Gaurav Balani on the bass guitar; Srijan Mahajan with drums; Ashwin ‘neal’ Mani, again on the drums and Sheel Patel on the tambourine.

They were well supported by Dilip Ramachandran on the percussion and drums; Shambu Nath on the tabla, mridangam and percussion; Imran Khan with the violin and Rajat Kakkar on the percussion.

The band is one of the most celebrated and successful band of the country and their policy is to provide free music. Every single one of their track is freely distributed across the Internet including their own website.

Parikrama was so expectantly honest and uprightly generous in their performance that they have literally raised the bar of every Rock and Metal follower as well as non-follower in the University.

Suroor Gupta, an ardent follower adds, ‘Parikrama replenished my love for great music, I completely enjoyed the first row madness’.

The Day ended with Ban the Bomb, a Dance for a Cause Competition.

I had google it to find out. We have more than one University in Udaipur now.

  3. Kirti: Many non-admirers of Rock and Metal don’t realize this but Parikrama is a like a God figure to many rising bands in India. Blessed we are that we got a piece of them so conveniently. But I do understand the discomfort of those peaceful people who don’t follow the genre!
