A 36-year-old man succumbed to death last night of 24 Dec, while undergoing medical aid. The deceased, Ashok Salvi attempted suicide by hanging himself 7 days ago and was rushed to hospital in critical state.
Since then his condition was serious and last night he died. Deprived financial condition was believed to be the cause of committing suicide.
Ashok, resident of Surya Nagar, Machhla Magra used to do odd jobs to earn two course meals for his family of 4 people, including his three children and wife.
On 17 Dec Ashok hung himself, but in a while he was rescued by neighbors and family members and was admitted in MB Hospital since then.
A 55-year-old man was arrested and sent to judicial custody under the charge of physically abusing a married woman in the context of spiritual healing; the accused was presented in court today and sent to jail.
The accused Salim Mansoori, a former rickshaw driver who turned into a spiritual healer, lived near a Dargah at Thokar Chouraha. The victim woman alleges that Salim is a bluffing people in the name of religion and spirits. Woman charged Salim for abusing her physically for several days and threatened her of devastation, if she defies his orders.
The victim woman lodged police complaint a month back; however police says that they were searching for Mansoori and yesterday they arrested him.

Today on 24th December, on the eve before Christmas, phrases from Holy Bible and Christmas Carols echoed at Shepherd Memorial and every other church around town. All the churches of city are decorated lavishly with lights and crisps showcasing birth of Jesus Christ.
According to Parminas Mathews, Spokesperson of Shepherd Memorial, in the celebration today, X-Mas Midnight Service was offered, whereas in the morning on 25th December same prayers will be repeated, thereafter wishes of Christmas will be exchanged among individuals of the community.
