Roadways Buses to get GPS enabled

udiapol-bus-stand-udaipurAdministering travel with the Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation’s buses will become more convenient as the buses are going to be equipped with GPS system and all bus stands will have LCD screens displaying the position of the scheduled buses and complete time-table in real time.

Two LCD screens have already been installed at the Udiapol Bus Stand yesterday, May 10, however, the system will get fully functional after a few days. As per the Chief Transport Office S.K Bhatt, the development has taken place after a Hyderabad based private firm was given a contract by RSRTC to install GPS to track the positioning of buses. Miraj to Re-Develop Sukhadia Circle

sukhadia-circleWith better prospects for Sukhadia Circle expected round the corner (sic) a Memorandum of Association is under consideration between the Udaipur Municipal Council and the Miraj Group.

Re-development of the site being the prime focus, both the parties will sign the MoU later this month.

According to sources, the Sukhadia Circle park renovation, maintenance and beautification has been under discussion for a long time. The same discussed in a Board Meeting held a few months back, was concluded to be given to a private undertaking, and Miraj was considered. [Read more...]




Tribunal Hearing on SIMI on 13 – 14th May in Udaipur

The Tribunal formed by the Central Government under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act 1967 is conducting a mass hearing in relation to Ban on SIMI (Student Islamic Movement of India) at the auditorium of Zila Parishad on 13th and 14th May, 2012.

The hearing would be led by honourable Justice V.K. Shaali of the Tribunal and Additional Solicitor General A.S. Chandiok, who has been appointed by the government, would be present in the hearing.

M.P. Singh, Under Secretary at Home Ministry of India and Manoj Kumar Singh, Investigator analyzed the pre-requisites of the hearing like venue of hearing and other arrangments with B.R. Bhati Additional District Collector and Mohammad Yaseen Pathan, Additional District Collector (City) along with other officials.




Tree Falls at Gulab Bagh Kills 1

tea-stallA road side tea vendor died on the spot after a tree trunk fell on the handcart (thela) today at around 4 pm near Gulab Bagh’s main gate, opp. Shub Lakshya Clinic.

A 45-year-old tea vendor, Dhanraj Giri was busy in his work when a heavy tree trunk suddenly fell on his cart injuring Dhanraj’s chest badly. The force with which it came down was so strong that all his ribs and one leg were broken.

Immediately, 108 Ambulance Service was called by nearby shopkeepers and other sellers but ambulance didn’t reach the spot in time and therefore, the victim was rushed to a hospital by a private transport. Dhanraj was declared dead soon after reaching the hospital. [Read more...]




Tri-Party MoU signed for Sewerage Treatment Plant

Treatment-PlantThe First Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) of Udaipur has been approved today in a meeting held at UIT, between the officials of the Urban Improvement Trust (UIT), Udaipur Municipal Council (UMC) and Hindustan Zinc Ltd (HZL).  A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the above named towards the construction and other related matters.

As per the approval and MoU, a SewerageTreatment Plant with a capacity of 20 Million Ton per day will be constructed in the vicinity of Manvakheda area by HZL.  The plant is expected to start giving its services to the city after 18 months as the deadline for the same has been established.  The land for the same will be finalized soon. Man falls from 1st floor of Bank Building

mohd-ishaq-injuredMohammad Ishaq (50), a painter by profession, lost his balance and tumbled down a floor to the ground while he was painting a section of the SBBJ Bank building at Shastri circle today, on May 9. Ishaq, resident of Kishanpol, Khanjipeer was rushed to M.B Hospital with multiple injuries and was later discharged after preliminary treatment.

The SBBJ Bank is on the floor above the Sahkari Upbhokta Bhandar at Shastri circle and was being painted by Mohammad Ishaq. It was around 3.30 pm when he lost his balance near the window pane and fell down on the road.

The onlookers called for the 108 Ambulance and took the victim to M.B Hospital. According to sources, the bank authorities neither came to his aid nor took him to hospital.

UT has not contacted any of the Bank’s officers for their comments.




JEN Arrested for Demanding Rs1.Lac Bribe

arrested-acbThe team from the Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested a Junior Engineer for allegedly taking a bribe of Rupees 1.16 lakhs in the form of commission from the amount allotted by the government for the construction of common toilets to be constructed in various schools under the Sarv Shiksha Abhiyaan.

Om JoshI, 40, s/o Hira Lal Joshi, resident of Bedla, Junior Engineer and a 3rd grade teacher at a school at Badgaon was caught with Rupees Twenty Five Thousand cash and a Cheque of Rupees Seventy Thousand. All the all currency notes and the cheque were pre-marked by ACB.

Zila Parishad General Meeting Held

The meeting was led by Madhu Mehta, District Chief in which she asked the authorities from various departments to take a note of the issues highlighted by the representatives and do the needful and give the information about it to the House (Council).

The working agencies were instructed to work on and file a report on the points raised on Road Construction by Parmanand Mehta, Premprakash Labana and Khayalilal Suhalka. Jewelers Rejoice as Government revokes Tax

Udaipur Sarafa businessmen exchanged greetings and celebrated their victory over the Government’s levy of Tax on precious jewelry.  The tax levied in this year’s budget was finally taken back by the Central Minister of Finance, Pranab Mukherjee.

The revoking of the One Percent excise duty was announced in a Lok Sabha meeting today, resulting in a downward slide in the Gold market.

Mild Showers drop Mercury in Udaipur

On the second consecutive day, the city of Udaipur witnessed untimely rain fall with a mostly cloudy sky all afternoon, though the showers were limited.

This helped pull down the Mercury levels to an extent, though the Humidity levels made the residents uneasy as it was clubbed with electricity cut-off in some parts of the city.

At around 2pm, the flow of breeze changed the condition, which was soon followed by mild to heavy showers reported in several parts of the city and around the region.

Though no official statement was recorded by the State’s weather department, online forecast sources indicate more sunny days to come along this week and the weather will remain clear.
