2 weeks before when I first visited Lal Bagh restaurant with my friend Shakti Singh Dulawat ( we call him Shakti Banna) , we just had snacks but I was really impressed by the service and ambience of the Restaurant. I decided to visit it soon.
Today, Shakti Banna asked me to join him for lunch at Lal Bagh – The Club House Restaurant, I happily agreed and it was really great experience having food there.
So, what we had?
First we’d ordered a plate of Egg Pakoras. We needed time to decide what to order for main course and also some extra time to do some chit-chat. Personally, I don’t like to see boiled eggs covered and fried with besan (gram flour). But still, it was crunchy and nice in taste. We had it with a bottle of sprite.
Main Course:
We ordered for Egg Curry, Shahi Paneer, Butter Roti, Green Salad and Butter milk. We also thought to order Shahi Pulao later but it didn’t work out. So let’s start how the Lunch and Lal Bagh Restaurant went all together.
……………………
Egg Curry: It was half pieces of boiled eggs cooked with regular Indian curry. The taste was nothing special and it was too much oily. This is common scene in most of the restaurants in Udaipur; they make gravy spicy and oily. But this one was good, I will say better than any other egg curries I have eaten. The good part of this egg curry was you will feel the taste of every spices and herbs mixed in that. Gravy was quiet thick. All over, it was not excellent, not very bad. A good one!
……………….
Butter Roti: I had around 2 and a half rotis but I didn’t realise that I was eating rotis and not nan. Nan is also a type of Indian bread baked under tandoor and topped with butter. It’s thicker than roti. The one which we had was not less than a nan. Definitely, great!
……………….
Shahi Paneer: If you are fond of Indian delicacies then you must had Shahi Paneer at least once. This dish is a combination of north Indian and mughlai cuisine.
Well, to the point, I bet that you never had the Shahi Paneer we had it today at Lal Bagh. It was simply awesome! By look, by taste, by feel, by color by any means it was mind blowing.
The moment Shahi Paneer arrived on our table, I said wow! It looks mesmerizing. I was really in rush to grab it in my camera. I can still imagine the first bite of Shahi Paneer. The real creamy, thick gravy with paneer cubes made a fusion of simplicity, flavor and fragrance.
Five Stars to Shahi Paneer!
………………….
Butter Milk: Very good taste but I ordered it because it was necessary to digest the whole classic food we had. I have no regret.
……………..
How it looks, when it ends?
Now comes to the damage we had: Rs 648/- including VAT
Lal Bagh is bit costlier than any other family restaurants in Udaipur but they give quality of food, best service and cool ambience. They deserve it.
So, if you plan to visit Lal Bagh then try Shahi Paneer, hey! don’t forget to mention the steward to make it in white gravy.
Be ready to pay at least 250/- per person. Excluding, hard drinks. Yes they have beer bar too.
Location: 65 Sardarpura, New Daulat Chambers, Udaipur.
However, we had lunch there but I advise you to go for dinner and sit outside in garden, you will also enjoy live band performing.

2 small facts about lal bagh….The 3 owners are awesome people, sehegal ji, ankit ji & davedeep ji. They always make sure you get the best of experience out there and at night they have a music group singing live bollywood music.
The second less known fact is this hotel interior is done by Anjali dubey, she is my brothers wife. She is currently doing a whole luxury township project in bhilwara. Each house will cost 1 crore plus…if only they can give 1 to anjali free LOL. Anyways lalbagh is a great place.
