Udaipur’s Royal Glory is going to get a technological blend of India’s 5th largest wind turbine plant by 2012.
Regen Powertech Pvt Ltd, is planning to build its second manufacturing plant in India. According to Bloomberg.com(a global online news provider),
“The Reknowned power plant, which is based in Chennai is expecting the commencement of the production in Januray, near Udaipur.” said K.Varahala Rao, Director of the Company.
According to the Director of the Company, “The plant will be able to produce up to 300 turbines a year.”
“A New 2.5 megawatt turbine, (which currently makes 1.5 megawatt turbine) will also be introduced during the financial year ending in 2013.
Indian firms are going high with more powerful & advanced turbines of 2 megawatt capacity & more. So Udaipur along with India is going tech savvy gradually.
More international Companies like Germany’s Siemens AG (SIE) and Spain’s Gamesa Corporacion Tecnologica SA are also interested to manufacture & sell 2 megawatt turbines to India.

This alternate source for power is more viable than the rest combined I feel. With the recent disaster in Japan and the subsequent leakage of radio-active water into the Pacific from the Fukushima Nuclear Plant following an explosion, it is imperative that responsible governments should act to obtain this particular source of electric power than anything else.
Wind power & solar power are two good sources to produce power and also will work out cheaper in the long run. With unlimited availability of both sources, humanity will benefit from clean and non-polluting sources such as these.
It is a good initiative by the local authorities for having chosen this mode for power supply and hopefully others should follow suit.
It is good to have Wind Energy production in Udaipur… But I doubt that the bird habitats have been considered by the firms….??????
Already a hot debate is going on in the European Nations on he issue of causalities of birds due to large wind farms. We should take care of it before it get final shape…
I will be the first to object for this once I know the detailed information of sites where it is planned…

Really happy to hear that Udaipur is also growing technically. This is a big news. This would be a great boost to the economy of the city. The government should support such projects as they can have huge impact on the future of Udaipur in terms development and growth. Needless to say, keeping biological and other environmental issues in mind. These should not have adverse effect on our tourism.
I guess the company is going to manufacture turbines used in wind energy plants not wind energy itself so there should not be big issues of bird habitats.

Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of bats is their ability to echolocate while simultaneously hunting prey.
Despite their ability to echolocate moving objects so well, bats seem to have another foe with which to contend to survive: wind turbines. Unlike the many bird deaths observed at wind turbines, according to a recent study, only about half of bats found dead near turbines died from direct contact with the blades. Instead, researchers Baerwald, D’Amours, Klug and Barclay found evidence of barotrauma (trauma caused by rapidly changing air pressures) in the lungs of 90% of bats near turbines. This means that the majority of bat deaths near turbines were associated with trauma caused by the rapid lowering of air pressure near the turbine blades. The researchers further suggest that the unique anatomy of the respiratory system of birds helps to protect them from barotrauma-induced injuries in comparison to mammals, although it does not protect them from direct contact with the blades.
Researchers Baerwald, Edworthy, Holder and Barclay went on to conduct an experiment published in the Journal of Wildlife Management to try to reduce bat fatalities at wind turbines. By simply adjusting the speed at which wind turbines begin to turn or changing the angle of the blades to reduce the speed, they were able to ensure that the turbine blades were “near motionless” in low-wind conditions. With this simple intervention, they were able to demonstrate a reduction in bat deaths by about 60%…finally some good news for bats! This intervention may help to reduce the number of birds that collide with the turbine blades in low-wind conditions as well.

Sir,
It is very good that you are concerned about birds and bats and local biological issues out there in lakecity. But i think if am not wrong Regen Powertech is opening a production plant not a power plant in Udaipur, so there will be no problems for the same.
Salutes to your concern again.

Dear Anshuman,
you where they are setting up production plant ?
Sir,
its very good ,specially for Rajasthan young blood because it will be helpful for them . And am very sure that the plant will not effective with environment and any other issues of Udaipur, because udaipur is a lovely place and its culture is also very good.
so , i suggest you plz complete this project as soon as possible.
