The All India Inter-University Women Boxing Championship is going on in B.N College ground Udaipur. Following the 2nd day of this first ever tournament for women boxers of India’s different universities, 26 bouts were played in the Semi final round today in 13 different weight categories from 46Kg to 86Kg.
Many national and internationally renowned boxers like Kavita Goyat (Bronze Medalist 2010 ASIAD) and Pinky Jangra who came in news after defeating the un-beatable Manipuri Boxer Mary Kom are a part of it. Both of them are representing Kurukshetra University of Haryana.
Vinisha Joshi from M.L.S.U Udaipur defeated Maria Thomas from Kerala University in today’s semi final. Vinisha is the only female boxer from M.L.S.U who made it to semi-finals and has now entered the finals.

137 Boxers are representing 16 Universities from all over India; the tournament started from 21st January 2011 here at B.N College ground.
Dr. D.S Chouhan, Secretary of Sports Board said that the event is going quiet good till now, it is a matter of proud for Udaipur that the Association of India Boxing has selected Udaipur as their first venue. Udaipur has also hosted inter-university boxing (Men) in 1995-96 and in 2001-02.
This event is a continuation of Inter University Boxing Championship for Men which held from 9th to 16th January 2011 where 650 boxers from 71 University participated. Maharshi Dayanand University Rohtak grabbed the championship while M.L.S.U Udaipur settled in 5th position with 1 silver and 2 bronze.
