38 couples of the Jain community from in and around Udaipur received blessings from their parents and relatives they were tied in a wedlock at the 13th Samuhik Vivah ceremony today on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti.
A large number of community members took part in the mass function that took place at the Fateh School ground and extended their wishes to all newlywed couples.
Each couple was given a special gift by the Samuhik Vivah Committee. Approximately 68,000 people attended the wedding ceremony.
A large group of men and women volunteers have given their contribution in making the event successful.
Prior to the marriage program, an important announcement was made by Rajkumar Fattawat, Chief Patron of the organization wherein oath was given to newly elected President Tinu Mandawat and Kuldeep Lodha, General Secretary.
They informed about the upcoming community projects and said that soon they will start a social survey of the Jain community. This survey will allow the organization to procure complete data of every Jain family in Udaipur. This will further facilitate group pilgrimage. A decision to inculcate a corpus fund to create opportunities for outstanding students will be formed.
As planned, the program also included felicitation of community social workers who have contributed to the development of the society. The awardees list included Kiranmal Savansukha, Mangilal Lunawat, Nirmal Malvi, Jeevan Singh and Leela Devi Mehta and Suryaprakash and Chandraprakash Madrecha.
