Art, is not mere a word. It is history in itself, a revolution of self existence, but it is sad when art takes back foot in common people lives. Knowingly or unknowingly we forget to admire beauty around us, killing our artistic craving.
To fabricate sense of art among common people, Syed Irshad Ali, an emerging young artist of Udaipur has once again chosen an unusual way of presenting his concern over upcoming metro culture in Udaipur ( we had featured one of Irshad’s art work before). Irshad has done his masters in fine arts from Bengaluru and while living there he felt strong impact of modern culture over emotional balance of people may it be in name of brand conscious, shopping mall attraction, discos or pubs.
He has painted Mewar styled old wooden Gates of Udaipur in contemporary manner. Irshad has used flakes of dry acrylic paint to depict dried emotions with changing time and behavior. Traditional wooden doors painted in modern style portray fusion of old with new, a common point where we exist. He chose gates to demonstrate his ideology so that message reaches out to common people.
Painting these gates is a small step of Syed Irshad for carrying a large message, soon he will paint hoardings to display them in public places. We congratulate Sayed Irshad for his innovative approach and art.

All the best Irshad..u doing gr8…
where does conscious of people go when they do such horrible things to anything which is a historical identity to a place…. this is a wrong manner to portray fusion…u cant damage anything which is part of our heritage… there are emotional ties of people attached to such things… these are identity of our past…irshad’s ideology of such demonstration is beyond my belief…i am a conservation architect by profession and such an act brings a notion of an immature act…and act should be profusely justified!!!!
Yes.. If he is really testing his skills on historical entities, then it is not appreciable.
And I may not be a good art lover, but I didn’t like the designs either.
Plus, why didn’t anyone stop him from doing this !!! I mean some curator, caretaker like person might have noticed him !!!
He was given permission by the owner.
your emotions are justified. But let me bring some things in notics :
1. This gate is personal property of some one who gave permission to the artist encouraging his innovation.
2. He has painted this single gate of a house, not of any archaelogical site or monument so claiming historical degradation is harsh way.
3.He has not damaged anything, he has presented just a fusion.
4. Identity of our past is harmed by people who write their name or spit on historical sites, and they should be condemned not the artists.
Good art work irshad but plz let the original things be the same as they are….
Try your art on plain wall or something like that
i think there is some misunderstanding over here . many people think that i am destroying our heritage for there concerns i would like to tell them is newly built gate by the chandra roop singh. i gave him a proposal to do art work on his gate. the reason behind doing this to make common people aware what is contemporary art.
i would like to ask question to most of u people how many indian artist u know . i am sure u will figure out or two name not more than that , because u have lack of art education bec. it not being taught in our school , colleges and not even by our parents. i can do this things in a private gallery too but i decided to do this in public bec. i want to reach to the common people. this is the way u built art culture in a society. i love my tradition and our culture too. but things are changing this is the reality. why we dont wear dhotis now days. what happened to your concern when this big shopping malls comes and u all go and love to buy vegetables and clothes from there, u r not destroying our culture and heritage over there,
i did that art work for the common people. i thanked to the owner who allowed me to do that .
sayed irshad ali
Fantabulous work once again IRSHAD…i mean this is top of the line…WoW is the word…u have actually bought in emotion & spirit to the door…I think culture & history etc are very subjective terms and holds motleyness perspectives for mortal to motal…i would really not like to scuttlebutt on the same…
I don’t see it’s harming any culture/ history but the way i look at it, its very clear that you are building “ART CULTURE”
All the very best, keep up the good work…
