More than one thousand students participated in the job fair at Maharaja College of Engineering, Udaipur, organized in association with the Times of India on 18th and 19th February 2012 at the college campus.
Making it one of the most successful job fair by TOI, nearly 100 students received offer letters from various national and multinational companies who came to recruit potential candidates.
According to TOI sources in Udaipur, HCL has selected 10 candidates while Tech Mahindra 7, IntelNet 4 and Genpact selected 3 students to join their organizations.

Nagendra Singh, Director of Maharaja College of Engineering told UT that it was the first job fair by the college and after noticing the huge response, the College will run this event every year. “Not only students but corporations also got the opportunity to discover fresh talent from Udaipur.”
According to one of the recruiters, “Udaipur is a beautiful city and there are a number of talented students we met in this job fair, but what we felt in most of the candidates were, lack of English speaking skills which minimize their effect while communicating.”
However, the job fair went successfully at Maharaja College, here are some photos captured during the two days of job fair.

Really ? I would request college administration to reveal those “hundreds of names” of students who got offer letters. All that every student received was a statement, “we will call you on monday.”
The packages offered were even less than 2.5 lac/year.
Most of the companies which were hyped (like HCL) were not the main companies but their BPOs.
Intelnet recruited engineers for back office job. Wow! Genpact, Fusion and Arcgate were a few more BPOs for Engineering Graduates. And job in a BPO is never counted as “work experience”
Tech Mahindra, hyped again. But, it was for Post Graduates and even MA students were eligible (as their notice board read).
This was just another publicity stunt which wasn’t meant to benefit students but to benefit the college itself. The last job fair at Sunrise College of Engineering was even pathetic.
This is all a publicity game, the “unfair” game of “Job Fair”. *Sighs*
BPO experience is never counted ?????????? says who??? you can be right that it can be a publicity stunt or Engineering students were offered BPO jobs, but it doesn’t mean that they have to do back office work…and the term used here is wrong these firms are involved in Outsourcing business and all outsourcing firms do not only deal in BPO’s and more over if you are aware of employment figures vast number of engineering students are involved in Outsourcing industry only.
And pardon me saying pal but all packages were not less then 2.5 Lacs, One of my friend is offered and selected at the salary of 4.5 lacs..
Hey do not get me wrong here..I do not want to counter attack you but man respect the initiative taken by some one , it might not be a huge job event and may be hundreds did not get jobs there but at least it was an effort where few have landed themselves on some decent jobs.
Does Lafarge Cement and JK Natural Marbles visited the campus, and if yes then how much students got placed in those companies.
Dear Vishal,
It seems either you are a desperate job seeker with overconfident approach or a rejected applicant because of your demerits. Do you expect each and every student just out of the college (not even a graduate) to get a package equivalent to an IIM-A. If so, then certainly you should come out of this constipated thought process. Were you a part of the Job fair or is it just a version that you got to hear? Sunrise college did not have a proper Job Fair- is a correct statement. This job fair was not a publicity stunt ….the students who got jobs will soon be a testimony to this…….BPO’s or Core…. a job is a job as long as u have it. Always better than being jobless…..keep trying rather than beating the bush.
g8 efforts to boost not only the student’s confidence…but also the try to make udaipur as a education hub….congrats…organizers.
Right on
