Talking about the health benefits of Prunes, Naini Setalvad remarked, “Prunes are both a source of true gourmet satisfaction and an every-day health-giving food. They are low in calories, rich in fiber and have a high mineral and vitamin content. They are an ideal source of energy in a balanced diet and also help strengthen the body’s defenses against various complications. Prunes really help fight Cancer and also helps reduce blood cholesterol. The soluble fiber in prunes aids to retain the normal level of blood sugar by delaying the absorption of glucose into the blood.
The presence of high levels of potassium and low levels of sodium present in prunes is vital to retain normal blood pressure levels. Prunes also help decrease severe inflammatory conditions such as Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis while at the same time alleviate muscle soreness and even migraine headaches”
“Prunes have a unique combination of nutrients, such as soluble and insoluble fiber, potassium, magnesium and iron. Furthermore, prunes are high in plant substances called Pholyphenols, which are strong antioxidants that help slow down the aging process of the mind & body. They also prevent eye and vision related problems as well as fight against skin problems such as eczema and acne, leading to a radiant skin. Prunes contain magnesium which helps to promote relaxation of muscles, nerves & blood vessels,” Setalvad added.
So not only are prunes a convenient and tasty snack, they’re also your ticket to good health!
