In order to demonstrate the use of Radio waves to heal pain, Dr. Palak Mehta, India’s first pain specialist will be organizing a camp at Sagwara on July 28.
“The new medical procedure uses Radio waves to get rid of pain in any part of the body. This will mean patients no more will have to resort to surgical procedures”, announced Dr. Palak Mehta, India’s first Pain Specialist.
This medical procedure uses radio waves on the skin after injections of local anesthesia on the affected part of the body. The process is quickly becoming desideratum for patients suffering with pain in different parts of the body.
Dr. Mehta, who runs the Pain Care Clinic at Aabhushan Complex, Navrangpura in Ahmedabad, explained that the pills generally prescribed for various types of pains (chronic, psychogenic, incident, nociceptive, etc.) are not really the end remedies.
She goes on to saying, “side-effects of uncountable pills usually prescribed come out as abdomen blisters, kidney diseases, bleeding, etc”.
The procedure can also be used against cancer pain and Sciatica. “In multiple cases patients left with pain after operation have got relief from a RF based pacemaker-like device implanted on spine.” She added, “This process does not harm the patient at all, in-fact they can be discharged from the Hospital after a mere 4-5 hours. It is cost-effective as well”.
However, the new medical procedure can only be performed on patients older than 15 years.
The currently available similar medical procedure, Radiofrequency Ablation (Neurotomy) uses heat generated by radio waves to target specific nerves and temporarily interfere with pain signals resulting in relief from pain.
