Ram Navmi Celebrations in Udaipur

Various religious and social programs were observed today in Udaipur on the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami, which is celebrated as the birth day of Lord Rama.

A mass procession was organized by Shree Ram Bajrang Sena and a blood donation camp was held at MB Hospital, while religious rituals like ‘Paath’ were observed in the temples of the city.

The procession passed through major parts of the city, and concluded with a felicitation ceremony, which took place at Nagar Parishad auditorium where people who have done considerable work for the female child and environment related projects were awarded by Shree Ram Bajrang Sena. Gangaur, one of the most important festivals for the people of Rajasthan is celebrated today in Udaipur with great enthusiasm. Tens of communities (Hindu sub-castes) participated in colorful procession that started from Jagdish Chowk to Gangaur Ghat by carrying beautifully decorated idols of Gauri and Isar.

The festival of Gangaur is spirited for spring, harvest and marital fidelity and hundreds of women devotees carrying the idols marched in the procession singing the customary songs of Gangaur which concluded at Gangaur Ghat with a mass gathering. [Read more...]




Cheti Chand Celebration in Udaipur

Cheti Chand was celebrated with great zeal and vigour today by organising series of cultural programmes, procession and community fair by the Sindhi community of the city.

Hundreds of community members carried out a glorious procession earlier this morning, with the active participation of kids and youth of community. Many kids were dressed in the attire of Lord Krishna and Goddess Laxmi while some elderly people were dressed like ‘Jhule Lal’, the patron saint of Sindhis. [Read more...]




Dasha Mata Worshipped

dasha-mata-poojanThe sacred tales (Katha) were observed today in Udaipur, where married women worshiped the Goddess Dasha Mata, and kept a fast. A group of women were also seen worshipping the Peepal tree, a ritual that started early in the morning.

It is believed that by worshipping Dasha Mata, one becomes prosperous due to the deity’s blessings. On the conventional pattern, women keep fasts for ten days, where every day they recite a ‘dasmaa’ story and perform Pooja. [Read more...]

Hajj 2012 Application forms now Available

The application forms of the Annual Muslim pilgrimage ‘Hajj’ for year 2012, have been made available at the Collectorate, Udaipur from today 6th March 2012.

On the orders of the Ministry of State Minority Affairs, the application process for the pilgrimage was declared open today and the forms will be made available free of cost to the pilgrims. The last date for the submission of the forms is 16th April. [Read more...]

Darshan Timings and Schedule at Shree Ekling Ji Temple

shivaOn the 14th day of waning moon in month of Falgun which is falling on 20th Feb this year, Mahashivratri celebration will start at Shree Ekling Ji Temple at 10 pm. According to Shree Eklingji Trust the special pooja will start at 10 pm and it will continue till 12 noon on Tuesday. Special decoration will be done in this pooja and Panchamrata will be offered.

Mass Procession on Maha Shiv Ratri
