Cinema goers had been restless being devoid of a thriller action movie for the last two weeks. Karan Johar’s Agneepath has potential to make them feel satiated for at least a month now.

The Chief Guest at the concluding function was Kiran Maheshwari, Legislator, Rajsamand and the Special Guest was Dr. Pradeep Kumawat, Director, Alok Institute.

Vanaver Caravan Danced at Hulchul Cafe

vanaver-caravanA unique weekend house-party at Hulchul Café, a part of the NGO, ‘Shikshantar’ in Udaipur was celebrated as Vanaver Caravan, a U.S based music and dance group were received today at Shikshantar’s center located at Kharol Colony, Fatehpura.

Authentic Jazz Dancer, Ramona Staffeld, Famenco Dancer, Marina Lopez, program Director and Dancer, Miranda Ten Broeke and Capoliva Master, Gustavo Caldas were present at the Hulchul Café and showcased their artistic dance moves to the volunteers of Shikshantar and the other guests.

In association with, Big Medicine Charitable Trust, Vanaver Caravan will also attend various not-to-profit events while journeying through Udaipur.

Sitar and Vocal reign at Kumbha

The strings of the sitar charmed the audience in the second session of the days program, when Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan began his performance with Raag Raageshwari.

Later, he introduced the various subtle elements of the Alaap, Jode, Jhala and Roopak Taal through his performances. Accompanying him on the tabla were Harshad Contractor and his American disciple Carlos Baan, who converted each of the performances into engrossing session of harmony and pleasure.

An expected melodious beginning to the Golden Jubilee Maharana Kumbha Sangeet Samaroh.  The audience were completely absorbed in the magic woven by the Sarod maestro Amjad Ali Khan.

What was more engrossing was the great performance by the two star progenies – Amaan and Ayaan Ali Khan, the sons of Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Sarod maestro and Shubhalaxmi Khan, the well-known Bharatnatyam dancer; stars in their own right. [Read more...]

Fantastic Performances at Shilpgram Theatre

Jis Lahore Nahi Dekhya, O Jamya Hi Nai, a playact directed by Virendra and based on the original play by Asghar Vajahat, captivated the audience on the penultimate day at the ongoing Shilpgram Theater week.

Fabulous performances by each of the artists got them loud applause as and when an intimately touching or question rousing scene transcended the expectations of the audience.

The play is based on the politically motivated partition of India and Pakistan and how the people on either side are affected by the event, both in terms of physical angst as well as psychological demur.
