Udaipurites belonging to almost all the sections of the society have jumped in the nationwide movement launched by Anna Hazare. They have extended their support by holding candle march, shrilling protests and demonstrations all over the city.
Apart from candle and torch marches, yelling slogans and bandh, an exclusive community of Udaipur including painters, musicians, sculptors, photographers or artist from any other genre have grouped together and they have decided to show their support to Anna by keeping mum for at least half an hour a day for 7 consecutive days.

They started their first silent protest on Aug 18 at Fatah Sagar paal with a small group comprising of a few people but soon it became a large cluster of hundreds, mostly belonging to the field of Art and Tourism.
Anna Hazare is known for his gandhian ideology of Ahimsa (non-violence) which he follows strictly and he also expects the same from his supporters. So the group also decided to do something that can express their feelings without disturbing any personal or public property or the routine life of people.
Akash Choyal , renowned artist and painter says “neither shouting on road nor bandh will make India a non-corrupt country then why can’t we use a way of silent protest. Those who follow Anna knows that how concern Anna is regarding violence”.
“The protest should be a personal contribution; it should not be forced upon anyone, so we thought of a very simple yet effective way to express our feelings”, says Akash.
Like Akash many talented, budding and senior artists came together to sit half an hour silently at Fateh Sagar, some holding a small banner while some put on a black ribbon.
Anna has taught us many ways to support him; to fight peacefully with the evil of corruption is the magic of Anna.
