dewas-udaipurThe approvals for Phase-3 and Phase-4 work of Mohan Lal Sukhadia Jal Pravartan Yojana in Dewas is expected to be received soon and the work will be started.

The dam constructed will be of 500 mpft capacity and around a 10km long tunnel will be constructed to supply its water and the work will be started after approval.

For the construction of Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the project, a budget of Rs. 379 crores was passed, out of which Rs. 303 crores have been spent.

In Phase 2, Madri Dam and an 11.5km long tunnel has been constructed; also a 45% inside lining work of the tunnel is completed.

In this project, water will be lifted through gravity which is the reason for delay in the project.

Rajesh Singh Tapen, Executive Engineer told that, the work is going on at a very slow pace because there is shortage of labor and also because of monsoons.

Once the construction of all phases is complete all the lakes of Udaipur will be filled round the year, which will not only increase tourism but will also solve the problem of water shortage.

The photo shows gauge in feet – this is illegal as per Weights and Measures Act – 1976, according to which only metric units can be used in our country. The Water Resources Department should follow the law and change all gauges in metric system. The 3 feet flow visible on the gauge will be about 90 centimeters or 0.90 meters in metric system.
No detailed surveys have been done and there is no Updated Project Report for Dewas III and IV, then how the work could start soon? A report was prepared in 1971 based on preliminary surveys – which is out dated and needs updating.
