On 143rd birthday of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, fondly called as ‘bapu’, and 108th birthday of Lal Bahadur Shastri, several programs were organized in Udaipur city by various political and non-political organizations.
Mahatma Gandhi Jeevan Darshan Samiti at Rakshabandhan, Dhanmandi organized a meeting and a discussion today. Chief Guest on the occasion was Mandal, Secretary of Rajasthan State Indian Scout and Guide, Suresh Chandra Khatik.
In his speech, Khatik said that both the personalities shall always be remembered for their contribution. They are the nation builders and epitome of truth and honesty.
In another event, Blood donation camp was organized at Saral blood bank, Bhopalpura by Jai Mewar and Mewar Shiv Sena at 10 in the morning, in which, 45 units of blood was donated.
Sena Pramukh, Ramesh Raj Swalka said that the objective of this camp was to help poor who cannot afford urgent requirement of blood in the case of an accident or pregnancy etc.
Dehat District Congress also celebrated Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Jayanti in their office at Surajpol in the presence of their President, Lal Singh Jhala and all the members. Meeting started by garlanding photo of Gandhi ji.
In the meeting, several Welfare Schemes run by Congress were discussed along with MGNREGA, BLO cards etc. Some schemes which are still pending were also discussed.
Zila Pramukh Madhu Mehta, Former MLA Trilok Purbia, Secretary, Dehat District Congress Devendra Singh Shaktawat, Up-Zila Pramukh Shyam Lal Chaudhary and Congress Minister, Bharat Ameta and other renowned Congress personalities were present on the occasion.
In another event, Mohan Singh Mehta Memorial, Gandhi Manav Kalyan Society, and Gandhi Smriti Mandir together celebrated Mahatma’s birth anniversary. Chief Guest on the occasion was Gandhi follower, Hemraj Bhati.
Program started with a poem, ‘Gandhi tere desh mei’ by poet Mushtaq Chanchal. After this, a movie, ‘Gandhi 5:17’ was screened.
Another blood donation camp was organized today by Lions club located at Hiran Magri, Sector 5.
Roshanlal Jodhawat, President of Lions Club, informed that many members of the club donated blood on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. The camp was sponsored by Lions Club Udaipur and Lions Club Hada Rani. On this occasion, former Prantpal Lion C.K Goyal, Sub Prantpal-II Lion Anil Nahar, Region Chairman Lion Ghanshyam Joshi, Lion Paramjeet Singh Arora and the members of other clubs were present.
