An attempted house burglary was foiled last night when the house owner and his family members suddenly arrived while the thieves were ransacking the house. The house owned by Navratan Kothari is situated at Siphon Colony, Fatehpura.
One member of the gang, a 14 year old, was caught with the help of neighbors when he jumped from the terrace of the house and got injured in the process. The other members (exact no. not known) managed to escape the scene. The teenaged thief has been handed over to Ambamata Police.
According to the Investigating Officer Prithvi Singh, at around 10 at night, Navratan Kothari and his family went out somewhere switching off the lights of their house. When they returned back at 11pm they noticed that a few lights were on. Suspecting something fishy, family members quietly entered in house and saw few people turning their cupboard upside down.
To raise alarm, Kothari shouted and this baffled the thieves who left everything and ran for cover. One Kishan Gameti (14) ran towards terrace and jumped from their but got injured; he was grabbed by neighbors while another member Himmat Gameti (18) ran away.
According to Ambamata Police there were two thieves, while some local dailies report the number of thieves to be 4 or 5.
An FIR has been lodged by Navratan Kothari. In an initial interrogation Kishan Gameti revealed that he and Himmat are residents of Eklavya Colony, near Siphon.
With this breakthrough, Police is hoping to solve more burglary cases registered in last few days.
