Dear UNICEF:Maternity Home’s Face Off

Health specialists from all over the globe have gathered in Delhi for a conference related to UN’s Launch of Global Strategy for Women’s and Children’s Health on Millennium Development Goal Summit. Launched in September 2010, this summit draws fund of more than $40 Billion for saving the lives of 16 million women and children.

The meeting- Pledges to Action is hosted by India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The dictum is how to reduce infant mortality rate in India which was 50 per 1000 live births in 2009.

To step forward in this regard, first facility based newborn care unit in Rajasthan was established with the support of UNICEF in Tonk district in 2008, there are 34 such newborn care units working in North-Western state of India, today. [Read more...]




Aajeevika Bureau:Giving Recognition to the Deprived

A villager migrates to the city for earning bread for his family and lives in the city for months to do so. But, when this hard working chap who helps in developing the city asks for his basic needs he is many times denied for it. When he asks for shelter he is denied as he do not have a reference in the city, when he needs a SIM card he is denied as he do not have an address proof for the city. He is exploited by the local administration, police, and also by his employer.

Example of our ecstatic joy surpassed recently after monsoons and with it again began questions, counter replies, discussions, concerns, a lot was spoken and written but what actually happened was an eerie bug in my mind.
