Banyan Roots: Udaipur’s First Organic Food Store and Cafe

organic-food

Udaipur has witnessed its first dedicated Organic Food Store today, Banyan Roots.

One can get Rice, Wheat, Corn, Pulses, Lentil, Gram, Spices, Ghee, Peanut Oil, Mustard Oil, Herbal Tea, Hair Oil, Thyme, Sulphur free Sugar, Tea, Coffee, Papad etc. and various other products, all purely grown and/or produced naturally without adding any harmful chemicals.

Banyan Roots is not only an organic grocery store but they also have a special cafeteria where every food served is organic. Moreover, the Banyan Roots also has place for artists of any genre to practice their talents and talk about their skill with other artists.

This innovative assortment of natural food and art, Banyan Roots is an initiative of two youngsters Jayesh Mohta and Rohit Jain.

Jayesh, a B.Com graduate is an artist by passion and had performed in many theaters and nukkad dramas while Rohit holds a degree of Masters in Computer Application (MCA) from Pune. Rohit wished to become a farmer.

Although being from uncommon backgrounds the duo has a common passion for Nature which brings them together with the concept of Banyan Roots.

“Every product here is purchased directly from farmers who cultivate organic products, we have contacted about 28 farmers from various places including Gujarat to supply us their food products,” said Rohit who has researched on Organic Farming for more than two years.

While conversing with UT, Jayesh said, “Banyan Roots will provide a suitable platform for farmers to sell their goods at better rates than anywhere in market; this will encourage them to continue their work, and this will also help in increasing organic farming.”

“We have an open space in backyard which is dedicated to artists to mingle with each other and a café to enjoy tasty organic food,” added Jayesh.

Organic Food Products are one of the biggest threats to growing numbers of global brands. Organic Food is not a new term; it has been used long back when there was anything called consumerism or commercialization.

Today every consumer product is well ornamented to please its customer. Precisely if talk is about food products, despite of its chemically endowed contents, the customers always tend to buy products labeled with big brands.

Opting for Organic food is like coming back to the point from where Human Civilization has started.

According to one survey by WHO, our food has 40 times more toxic chemicals than permitted, this force us to eat at least 0.27 grams of deadly chemicals every day.

That’s the reason why even a man living a luxurious life suffers from hypertension and cancer. The biggest reasons are: changing lifestyle and eating habits.

Banyan Roots also provides service of Home Delivery, gives assistance in growing kitchen and herbal gardens and also observe Organic Farm Trip/Tour.

Banyan Roots is located at 32/4 New Fatehpura, very close to Income Tax office near Sukhadia Circle.

  7. No doubt the organic food thing is great but apart from that your youth cafe Banyan Roots can be the best part of your venture if executed well. This will provide youth a place to channelize themselves, practice, talk, explore and share their passion. It’l help them go liberal, think and grow and in turn this will help our society mature.

Loads of wishes to both of you. Keep going…!!
