Udaipur Carnival starts to attract Crowd

carnival-dance2Sunday, May 6 saw an electric enthusiasm at the Celebration Mall, subsequent to the commencement of the month long Udaipur Carnival at Celebration Mall that began on May 1, 2012.

The crowd participated with fervor in the extravaganza on Sunday when British dancer Charlie Middleton performed to the rhythm of Laser Lights.

The event organized under the joint association of Pacific College and The Celebration Mall, Udaipur saw a large crowd jamming the giant corridor in the Mall, conceivably due to the weekend and the start of Summer Vacations. [Read more...]




‘Chhachh’ to Beat the Heat

A newly formed social group of young professionals and businessmen organized a free Chhachh (buttermilk) distribution drive in the Maharana Bhopal Hospital compound today on the occasion of Vaishak Purnima. The motive was to offer an affection for the common people, specially those who visit the hospital, as patients and their relatives.

23-Year-Old Drowns in Kathar River

In an incident that occurred in Kathar River at Gogunda, 23 year old Anmol Meghwal s/o Kaluram Meghwal died after drowning in the river.

As per sources, the accident occurred when Anmol went with his friends for a picnic to Kathar after the weather got slightly pleasant due to the sudden drizzle yesterday afternoon.

While four of his friends were sitting near the bridge on the river, Anmol walked down the steps of the river for checking the depth of the water in that area.  After a while, when his friends looked around for him, he was not visible.  Since none of the friends knew how to swim, they look around for help and found a villager. Azhar makes Udaipur Proud

The announcement of Union Public Service Commission Civil Services Examination- 2011 results on Friday, probably made it was one of the happiest days in life of Baig family of Udaipur as their son, Mirza Azhar Baig, triumphed with an All India Rank of 313.

Azhar, who achieved his goal in the second attempt, is a 27-year-old IIT Delhi graduate who left his job at Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL) to pursue his dream of serving the nation.

“Actually it was my grandfather’s (Late Mirza Anwar Baig) dream to see me as an IAS officer. Though he passed away when I was 4, but I hope today his soul would be contented” , said Azhar. [Read more...]




Lady Chain Snatcher Caught!

In the busy evening market of Mukherjee Chowk, a woman was caught today when she allegedly attempted to snatch a chain from Neelu Soni, a house wife and resident of Singhatwadio ki Sehri area while she was buying vegetables.

The accused, Suman Ingle was caught by passersby and handed over to Surajpol Police. In an initial questioning it is revealed that Suman whose age is around 25 belongs to Devas, Madhya Pradesh and lives in Udaipur with her husband Abhay Ingle.

According to police, they will present Suman to court on Monday and will ask for her remand to extend the investigation.

As per the sources, the incident took place at around 6pm at the vegetable market when Neelu w/o Yogesh Soni was buying vegetables. The accused Suman approached from behind and tried to snatch Neelu’s 2 tola gold chain.

Neelu also received minor injuries when she retaliated and shouted for help. The passersby got hold of the accused lady and handed her to police. Deputy Officer Anant Kumar arrived on the spot along with Sobhagya Singh S.H.O Surajpol Police Station.

A dynamic conversation on the life and moral of Swami Vivekananda was organized at Lokmanya Teachers Training College, Dabok as part of 150th birth anniversary year celebration of Swami Vivekananda. The key speaker was Professor Vinya Pendse of R.N.T. Medical College who enlightened the audience with the teachings of Swami Vivekananda, the founder of Ramakrishna Mission.

In her address, Professor Pendse said that the education which trains us to earn livelihood is not real education but the education which takes us to the path of God is the true education. Truth, peace, harmony and many such principles are present in every religion and that’s the basic knowledge given by Acharya Ramakrishna, Guru of Vivekananda. [Read more...]




Ek Shaam Sai Ke Naam, on May 12

A group of devotees of the Holy Saint, Sai Baba of Shirdi, the Om Shri Sai Bhakt Mandal are organizing the 3rd Annual “Ek Shaam Sai Ke Naam – Bhajan Sandhya”; a spiritual evening at Town Hall, Udaipur on 12th May, 2012.

According to Harish Navlakha, President of the organizing committee, “All preparations have been made to mark the day. The venue will be highly decorated with lighting, flowers and spread with the fragrance of sacred bliss; there would also be colorful fireworks on the night of 12th May.”

[Asian Powerlifting] 3 Silver, 1 Bronze for India

In Women Category:

52 Kg Senior section:

Cho Yi Ju of Taiwan won Gold after lifting 440 kg weight. She demolished her own record of 185 kg by lifting 190 kg in dead-lift and set the new record.

Koyka Anita of Philippines lifted a total of 410 kg weight and succeeded in getting Bronze (Silver). Anita broke her own master-2 record of 377.5 kg and set a new one.

Gulmujhaviya from Turkmenistan lifted 307.5 kg to win the Bronze.

52 Kg Junior section:

Hung Hee Chun of Taiwan lifted 335 kg to win Gold.

Several Extend Tribute to Departed Student Leaders

Hundreds of students, professors and employees of Shramjeevi College and other colleges of the city gathered today to commemorate the 3rd Death Anniversary death of Kamlesh Choudhary, Kapil Choudhary and Praveen Choudhary, the three students of Shramjeevi, who died in a road accident.

The remembrance ceremony was held at Shramjeevi College Campus, where students from several colleges offered flowers to the pictures of the deceased. In a short address to the attendees, Jeevan Singh Ranawat, Director of Shramjeevi College remembered all the three students as enthusiastic and always leading the student fraternity in every small and big issue.
