Another Chain Snatching makes mockery of Law and Order in Udaipur

In another incident of chain snatching reported at the Hiran Magri Police Station, a 2.5 tola Gold Chain was snatched off a 62 year old lady.

Sumitra, wife of Ratan Lal, resident of Seva Nagar, Chankyapuri in Hiran Magri, was reportedly returning home at 8:45AM from the Jain Temple at Sector 4, Hiran Magri, when two persons on a bike came and snatched her chain.

The riders were driving a Black colored bike and the pillion rider was wearing a Black Striped T-Shirt, as reported to the Hiran Magri Police Station as per information provided by the Officer on Duty at the station.

The bike and apparel resemble the two riders who snatched a Gold Bracelet off a victim last night from Basti Ram Ji Ki Badi, in Bohrawadi.

The police are looking into the case.

Interestingly, both the incidents mentioned above occured within 12 hours of each other, putting public concern at highly disturbing levels.

“Old World”, a play directed by distinguished dramatist Bhupesh Pandya will be staged on 4th & 5th August 2012 at Vidya Bhawan Auditorium.

A well known figure in the television & film industry, Bhupesh Pandya was trained at the National School of Drama. Incidentally, he started his career in dramatics from Udaipur itself.

Written by Alexei Arbuzov, the play Old World will have theatre artists Anil Dadhich and Rekha Sisodiya in lead roles. The play has been translated in Hindi by Dr. B Safadiya and Bhupesh Pandya. [Read more...]

Kshatriya Mahasabha Calls for Mass Protest on 17th

sabha2The Mewar Kshatriya Mahasabha called a meeting at the BN College for support in the “Arrest of Junior Resident Doctors” issue, inviting representatives from all the castes and communities of the city today.

Sudhir Bhatia, member of the Rotary Club expressing his concern on the alleged actions of the resident doctors of MB Hospital said, “We have to take a collective step against the malpractices of the Junior Resident Doctors of the hospital.” He further added, “Doctors are no more considered as Gods, they have turned into money making machines.”

The improper drainage system and sluggish response from administration is creating a threatening situation for the upcoming days of rain.

Survey started for installation of CCTV on City Roads

newsUdaipur Police has started surveying traffic conditions of various Metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, etc to discover the technical similarities of Traffic conditions with Udaipur.

In an attempt of reducing crime rate in Udaipur, District Traffic Management Committee decided to install CCTV at all the prominent circles of city. Work has already initiated on this as Police Department has started a survey.

On the completion of survey, Police department will present its report. Thereafter the most suitable camera system technology will be adopted for the city. The installation work will be carried out by UIT. [Read more...]

1 Killed as Truck Hits Motorcyclist at Chirwa

Jayant Kumar Mali, a 31-year-old PhD scholar was on his way to Udaipur from his home at Nathdwara today morning at around 10:30 when a heavily loaded truck hit the motorcyclist from behind, killing him on the spot.

Sukher Police Station lodged an FIR against the absconded truck driver who fled away immediately after the accident.

According to Police, Jayant left his house today morning at 9:30 to Udaipur for some research work; he used to visit Udaipur often for his PhD related work. At 10:30, while crossing the dodgy slope of Chirwa, a truck came from behind and hit Jayant. [Read more...]

Cadila Pharmaceuticals to setup Manufacturing Operations in Udaipur

cadila-logoThe Rajasthan State Administration has sanctioned land to Ahmadabad based Cadila Pharmaceuticals Limited to establish a medicinal manufacturing plant in Kaladwas, Udaipur’s RIICO Industrial Area. The plant is likely to revolutionize the business sector in Udaipur and will generate job opportunities for locals.

The decision came into force on Wednesday, 13th June in a cabinet meeting led by the Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot. An investment proposal of Rupees 8,808 Crore has been sanction by Rajasthan Government. Cadila is one of the company listed, a local daily reports.

Cadila will invest Rs.130 Crore on a 30 acre land already reserved by RIICO.

Alleged Family Discord Turns Ugly, no one arrested
