Shilpgram Utsav 2011 is nearing its culmination as is the year 2011. Each year is unique in itself, so is each Shilpgram Utsav, as it leaves behind memories unalike year on year.

This year we got to see some of the most fascinating and astonishing performances by individuals – the skills that a human body can perform in full strength or otherwise was something to be seen, appraised and applauded this time.

Today, when we closed Day 9 at the Utsav, we felt that some close association was seeping out and we were unable to stop it. [Read more...]

In what can be taken as a unique and heart-warming presentation of grit and determination, today’s events at Shilpgram was dominated by the enactment of a group of disabled individuals who executed their performance to the joy of all present at the venue.

The performance was enacted by members of the Ability Unlimited Foundation, New Delhi under the guidance of their program co-ordinator and teacher, Syed Salahuddin Pasha. [Read more...]

‘Kuchmani Khayal’ by Bansi Lal Khiladi scored the first run in today’s session of the 2011 Shilpgram Fest, followed by the Gair dance.

The audience was once again treated to the Dandpatta Shabdvedh by Marathi artists in which a blind folded man was given directions to the beat of the drum and the Manganiar by Gazi Khan. [Read more...]

The PMEGP Gram Udyog and Khadi Mela, a joint effort of the Khadi and Gram Udyog Aayog, Mumbai and the Rajasthan Aadimjaati Sevak Sangh was inaugurated today at the Town Hall grounds.

This state level Khadi Mela will be open for a period of 10 days. Presided by Sajjan Katara, the inaugural ceremonies were performed by the President of the Rajasthan Khadi and Gram Udyog board Anil Parikh. The Chief Guest of the function was MP Raghuvir Singh Meena. [Read more...]
