Meeting for Maharana Pratap Jayanti Held

maharana-pratap-smarakMewar Kshatriya Maha Sabha organized a preparatory meet at Seminar Hall of Udaipur Municipal Council in joint association with Sarv Dharam Samaj to discuss the upcoming celebration of Maharana Pratap Jayanti on 24th May 2012.

With participation of different social groups, a week long program will start from 17th May and it will end on 23rd May, 2012 followed by a grand procession.

Udaipur Gets Set for Carnival Time

Car Gutted at LIC Office

A car burst into flames today afternoon at the LIC office compound located near Delhi Gate. The car has been partially damaged due to fire; however no casualties have been reported yet. The flames were extinguished by the fire brigade.

According to sources, the car owner Jagdish Mehta, a computer operator at Zawar Mines came to the LIC office at Delhi Gate for some work at around 2 pm today. His car, a blue color TATA Indica was parked at the LIC office compound. A few minutes later, someone noticed flames coming out from the car. [Read more...]




BJP’s Shahnawaz Hussain attends Wedding in Udaipur

Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, who is  known to be a good companion of many high-profile journalists, attended a wedding function of Rubika Liyakat, news anchor and correspondent at News24. Rubika, who originally hails from Udaipur, is wedded to Naved Qureshi, News Anchor at BAG Film and Media, New Delhi.

Shahnawaz Hussain first attended the Nikah ceremony, which was held on Saturday 28th April at Bohra Community Hall followed by a gala dinner in traditional style at the Jamaat Khana.

“Syed Shahnawaz Hussain arrived in Udaipur just to attend the marriage and to bless the couple,” said a relative of bride. The BJP leader left shortly after the wedding ceremony concluded.




Dance for Life: A Musical eve at Shilpgram

On the eve of World Dance Day on 29th April, today a Classical Music Function and Music Awards evening was organized by the Kala Aashram College of Performing Arts at Darpan Auditorium, Shilpgram.

Yellow Day at Seedling School

Saturday 28th April, was celebrated as ‘YELLOW DAY’ by the primary section at Seedling School, Udaipur. A day dedicated to the Yellow color was marked today by the students of class I-III of Seedling Modern Public School.

Children were not only beautifully dressed in their favorite yellow dresses but also brought yellow fruits in their tiffin to make it a complete yellow day!

The best dressed children were selected from various classes and given merit cards. The day consisted of various colorful activities including drawing and coloring competitions, etc.

Neelam Sharma, an official of the Seedling School said, “Every color has its own importance. Color can influence our emotions, our actions and how we respond to various people, things and ideas. Like Red symbolizes vitality, White-Purity and Green–life; Yellow is for wisdom and intellectual energy.”

Gangu Kund overflow at Midnight was Technical, not a Miracle!

Gangu Kund, located at Mahasatiya, Ayad witnessed a phenomenal water stream gushing upwards in the pond, which subsequently filled the historical pond to the top. This continuing flow of water was noticed at the midnight of 26th-27th April, as per the news published in one of the local Hindi dailies today.

The water soon touched the Shiva Temple, which has both historical and religious significance, placed at the center of the puddle.

According to the newspaper, two residents of the area noticed the sound of gushing water coming from the Gangu Kund and soon the information reached nearby residents who rushed in to witness the ‘Miracle’.

However, contrary to the assumption that the flowing water was miracle (or mystery), another resident informed UT that the flow of water was actually meant to go through a pipe that accidently separated from the motor pump and the water, instead of being dispersed outside the pond, remained gushing within the pond itself.
