In a shocking incident that occurred today evening, a 20-year-old boy died after being assaulted by two people over a petty issue. The culprits later surrendered themselves at police station.
Zahid Khan, 20, son of Inam Khan, resident of Swarajya Nagar, Patel Circle has succumbed to his injuries while going through treatment at MB Hospital. Large number of people, including relatives, friends and neighbors gathered outside hospital.
The accused, Mukesh Harijan and Vishal Harijan, surrendered themselves in front of police immediately after the death of Zahid, who used to work as a computer operator at Surajpol.
According to sources, today at around 7 in the evening, Zahid with his friends went to a tea stall near Vishal Mega Mart, both Mukesh and Vishal were allegedly waiting for Zahid, the duo started arguing with Zahid over an issue they had today morning.
Suddenly, Mukesh and Vishal started hitting Zahid with iron rods, because of severe head injury, Zahid fell unconscious. His father Inam Khan, who is a taxi driver and was close to the spot of incident, informed, “In an attempt to rescue his son, Inam Khan tried to intervene but the assailants attacked him too”. Khan also received injuries.
Zahid was rushed to MB Hospital, where he died during treatment. The attackers surrendered themselves at Surajpol Police Station.
Zahid used to live in lane number 12 of Swaraj Nagar, while Mukesh and his brother reside in lane number 5.
The officials of Muslim Mahasabha also came to MB Hospital as soon as they got information about the incident.
They appeared in front of the Collector and requested him to arrange the postmortem procedure on an immediate basis as they seeked to collect the victim’s body as soon as possible.
Collector granted them the permission and postmortem was scheduled for the same evening.
CORRECTION: The accused were arrested by police when they went to Surajpol Police Station to lodge a cross complaint.
